New tvN Weekend K-drama Bon Appétit, Your Majesty with Yoona and Lee Chae Min Premieres to Strong Reviews and Increasing Ratings
Like a parched and hungry traveler in the desert of K-drama land, new tvN weekend drama Bon Appétit, Your Majesty has premiered to be the much needed sustenance for viewers. The drama starring Yoona as a time traveling to Joseon era Michelin starred chef and Lee Chae Min as the foodie King with a penchant for period appropriate violence and authority just premiered this past weekend with episode 1 ratings at a decent 4.856% but the true indicator is that episode 2 went up to 6.642%. The initial reviews and feedback are also quite strong, with Yoona delivering on all fronts from comedy to determination to quiet emotion and Lee Chae Min solid as the male lead despite his fewer track record. Let’s see if his one could be the first big K-drama hit of the second half of 2025, having legs to bring in more viewers and staying strong in storytelling through the entire run.

Yes much needed for me too. To me, both K and C dramas have been in a slump this year too with some highly anticipated dramas not meeting expectation. I watched some really good old Kdramas while almost all the K and C dramas premiered this year disappointed me. I’ll check this out.
Personally, this year C dramas way better than the last year. My list for last year C drama on my MDL has so many that I dropped. As for this year, I have a lot of drama that I didn’t dropped and have quite good numbers that I give above 8.5.
The only two Korean dramas I like this year are unwritten Seoul and beyond the bar (so far). Looking forward to this one and tempest coming out next month
I dropped both unfortunately.
It was a fun start and I am looking forward to the next episodes. Though I am not sure about the romance. Let’s see how it goes.
Kang Hanna is really a versatile actress. She can play anything. Wonder how far her character becomes in this drama.
I’ve watched 2 episodes for the plot. But Lee Chae Min looks good in his king attires.
Yoona isnt bad. But really enjoy watching her in comedy.
The director (You from the Stars and Night Flower) is really strong and the pacing is excellent. Both leads are well-cast. Lee Chae Min is going to be the next rising star, so hot and tall and no longer wooden in acting. The show is a gem, the food scenes are beautiful, and I am sure the recent interest in Korean culture brought by Kpop Demon Hunters will further boost this show’s popularity. It is already the number one show on Netflix worldwide now.
I am so pleasantly surprised! Really loved Lee Chae Min in Crash Course but didn’t know if he was up to ML status yet, and Yoona I always remember as a chemistry void in the K2 but then she was much more charming in King the Land, and I loved Mr Queen but disliked the ending, and thought I’d miss Park Sung Hoon, so I was allured but full of misgivings.
Plot’s fast moving with surprises, Yoona very convincing as a dedicated chef and exasperated modern woman in ancient times, and Lee Chae Min is delivering offended fascination. When he did the finger gun gesture back at her! My heart. I’m also always in for a Moon Lovers style Kang Hanna. While I’m sure Park Sung Hoon would’ve been great too, it really makes sense that this tyrant goes for older women and possibly for being walked like a dog. Tuned IN!
Japanese drama Learning to love on Netflix is just the best of summer 2025.
I have been one of those who has been a critical of Yoona. I loved her debut drama and I thought she was one promising young actress after watching her in that daily. But my expectation died instantly after watching her subsequent projects. Her acting development is much like that of a sloth or slug, it was so slow and frustrating. The annoying part is that she gets so much projects [very very good ones] which I really wish had gone to other more talented actresses. I would easily turn off or fast-forward her scenes, it was so frustrating.
But watching her here, it feels very different. Is this her My Daughter is Lee SeoYoung moment much like Lee Boyoung? I really hope so, cause I don’t see any of the investors dying down in getting her. As much as I get annoyed her acting, she has such an amazing image and great bankability status that she is just is a practical choice for investors.
I am here for her in this drama. Really hope this is it…
I actually thought her acting improved when I watched big mouth and I like her in king the land.
I am actually hooked on to the main actor Lee chae min as he is delivering all emotions better than the female lead even though she is his senior . She looks old and anemic unable to be funny but only looks good when she is cooking as she is not opening her mouth . But overall better than the other current females who are worse . The young male actor is the hit factor for this show
Loving it so far! Wish all the episodes were out so I can binge. Yoona has been a revelation these past few years for me. Used to view her as an idol actress with so so acting but she’s got good acting chops and is amazing at generating chemistry with her ML. The chemistry between her and LCM is sizzling and spicy! Pun intended lol
It’s a fun watch and has a very promising start. I enjoyed the first 2 eps.
Trust KDrama to make a ROMANTIC LEAD out of an historical psychopathic butcher. A skim reading of his Wikipedia entry enough to kill my interest in this one. Although I do wonder if we’ll see him personally decapitate and/or amputate limbs in this “cute” romcom. Or see him razing hundreds of homes and stockpiling young girls for mass rape. All primee romcom material, for sure.
