Tencent Melancholy C-drama Twelve Letters with Zhou Yi Ran and Wang Ying Lu Delivers Short But Meaningful Run
A short (12-episode) length C-drama premiered recently on Tencent in a very low key way (not a lot of promos) and wrapped its run in mere days. But the drama Twelve Letters reportedly received rave reviews from the few viewers that watched so it’s worth writing about. The drama stars Zhou Yi Ran and Wang Ying Lu as they navigate their rough and tumble life as young teens and involves a fantasy element of receiving letters through a mailbox that seems to be across space and time. I’ve heard great reviews from both domestic viewers on Douban as well as international drama watchers, especially praise for the acting of both leads. Zhou Yi Ran has been roasted in recent years for being Tencent’s prince but not delivering any meaningful acting other than cold bland expression so this is probably his vindicating performance that he is capable of improving and acting. And for Wang Ying Lu, it continues her packed month of August and September with this being the second of three dramas of hers released, earlier it was When Destiny Brings the Demon and next comes Yummy Yummy Yummy.

Best best best!!!!! Excellent!!!
So far, this is ZYR’s best work. Havent watched many dramas with WYL, but she has better chemistry with ZYR than with Arthur. Both are 2000 liners and their careers are still long. Please, work again later. They are my new fave CP!!!
Loved the first episode. Everything about it caught my attention, was completely absorbed in it. written and ilmed well – gritty, atmospheric, characters are interesting, unglamorous, grounded and real (well, as real as can be given the fantasy element), so far. have high expectations, hope I won’t be disappointed.
Won’t watch anymore until I’m ready to binge/focus.
Thanks for the article, probably wouldn’t have checked it out, otherwise.
It was well done but wished they added a little more to the ending. Be ready for a sobbing story if you watch but a happy ending more or less.
Best drama that has aired in recent memory and the first drama that I have finished in a long time!
