Jeon Ji Hyun and Ji Chang Wook in Talks for Fantasy Romance K-drama Human X Gumiho Slated for Next Year 2026
The title for Jeon Ji Hyun‘s most recent last drama Tempest ended up being fitting for all the wrong reasons, with scenes and dialogue drawing the ire of Mainland Chinese viewers for what was deemed insulting to their country. A true tempest in a teapot if you will. But life goes on and she’s now in talks for her next drama and the male lead in discussion is Ji Chang Wook, which is a pairing I’ve never ever thought about but have no issues with. It’s a romance fantasy K-drama titled Human X Gumiho and is clearly back to the same well of the gumiho (nine-tailed fox) folklore themed dramas. It’s from the screenwriter of the drama version of The Beauty Inside and Doom at Your Service and filming is scheduled for March 2026 so the earliest this drama could arrive is the second half of next year.
Not a fan of Gumiho, but I’ll check this out for actors’ sake. I’m somehow disgusted by the concept of Gumiho folklore. I’ll see how the directing may present it acceptable to me artistically.
Bad casting
It’s funny how jcw was considered a weak costar, and a downgrade for KJW and SHS and now he’s with the JJH. Biggest haters being the pedo guys fans and them wishing he reunited with JJH and now look, karma is sweet.
Pedo guy’s fans? Surely I recall all the mockery from them. Such good riddance of those rabid fans.
They are both decent actors but to me it depends on the writing and directing. Can they make the gumiho lore presentable, unique and cohesive to the very end? 🤷🏻♀️
Jcw who I love I have to admit has been a hit and miss in romance. But jjh has no misses in romance both have a certain charm they can bring especially jjh who excels in comedy. She was the original pick for the gumiho drama which eventually shin minah nailed. This news is exciting especially for jcw haters he’s also working with son yejin , wonder where millie/butterfly etc are.
LOL at you calling them out. I almost forgot them all but instantly recalled how rabid they were when ppl reminded. Those rabid fans were so vocal in worshiping their fav and hating on other actors. Now we got to talk about other actors more fairly on this site.
Not a fan of JCW. But he still had memorable drama that I like, e.g. Healer.
The way they put them that guy on a pedestal lol and the way they undermined his female costars and used his awards as a yardstick in doing so 😂😂. And us being called haters cause we preferred his female costars, now his cult like stans won’t come for you if you dare to hate on his acting.
I actually think his costars always outperformed him in each of his hit dramas. The Moon Embracing the Sun is perhaps the one exception. I was attacked relentlessly for this honest opinion. LOL.
@imzouun and @somebody, I remember those days when Millie and butterfly and all those pedo fans on this site were attacking those who said his costars were better. Some of them are probably embarrassed to call themselves fans now. Karma at its best.
My favorite Jcw’s dramas are still healer and empress ki. But his recent ones are hits and misses. I still like his face more than Kim pedo
Wow I hope the screenwriter does better with this one. The concepts of Beauty Inside and Doom At Your Service both had potential, but both dramas felt flat and a waste of each pairing.
