Xianxia C-drama Whispers of Fate with Luo Yun Xi Premieres Today October 24th on Hunan TV and Mango Streaming
It’s artistic flair time! The xianxia C-drama Whispers of Fate premiered today Friday October 24th and this drama is vying with Moonlight Mystique which premiered the beginning of the year for most visually excessive drama. The drama is headlined by Luo Yun Xi and it’s a true male lead solo top billed drama, I can’t even tell which of the three female leads Bao Shang En, Chen Yao (Sebrina Chen), or Jelly Lin is the love interest and has the most screen time from the previews or synopsis. The supporting male leads Xiao Shun Xi and Fang Yi Lun get a lot more screen time in the previews so the drama seems more conflict based between the dudes than any romance. The drama leans hard into the xianxia visuals and Luo Yun Xi really has the ability to project screen presence and the strong costuming here doesn’t appear to overwhelm him. If the story and directing is good this should be able to generate buzz.

Preview for Whispers of Fate:

So far, so good… the story obviously needs more time to unfold, but the world building and characters are interesting enough…LYX really does have a certain captivating screen presence though, he somehow makes u care..
Episode 1 was spectacular. Episode 2 a bit confusing, it will take a while for me to navigate through all the sects and Sword masters. The flair is definitely xianxia with wuxia elements.
Fang Yilun is amazingly handsome and seems like a great villain.
Luo Yunxi is mesmerising. This role seems to be right up his alley.
So let’s see how it unfolds.
I watched upto episode 6, it’s not complete trash since I plan to watch more episodes unlike Blood River where I couldn’t get past episode 2.
I’m hanging on because Alan Fang as a crazy villain is pretty captivating so far, his performance in the first 10 minutes of episode 2 remind me of Brigitte Lin in Bride with white hair, I was like acting???… Is this acting???…hurray it’s real acting long time no see lol
I’m so glad Alen Fang isn’t a one hit wonder (Journey to love) or one trick pony, he has more acting cards up his sleeve yay. I’m invested in his relationship and inevitable misunderstanding with Luo Yun Xi’s character.
What else do I like, the side kick is quite good I like his action scenes and the CGI for his Cresent blade weapon is cool.
I like Lin Yun (she was good in a Dream of Splendour ), I like her visuals, hope there’s a lot more to her character.
Musical instruments as weapons is cool, music is good.
Negatives. There are so many flash backs they should have just started the drama story timeline at four years ago where all the conflicts started!
I try to unfocus my eyes so I don’t see Luo Yun Xi’s costumes lol
The rest of it, the cases, characters, story etc are all a bit meh
I have watched first 6. There are so many tulles in costumes it was kinda hard for me to get over that detail.
It has nice world buil filming sets and magical effects. Yet storytelling didnt capture my interest or emotions. Im just keeping up to see how they will develop before going to bed or eating my meals…
Im quite interested in scenes they put in trailers with LYX & Jelly Lin!
This is not BL but there are feelings and elements of it just like in Dark River drama. I wonder if this is new way to go for/about BL dramas now? to save themselves from ban or something..
LYX’s excessive extraordinary ghastly scrawny physique still can’t be unseen. LOL. If the ML were someone else, I might continue to watch. I quit after 15 minutes into ep1. But now I’m gonna check out ep2 to just to see how Alan Fang faired cuz some ppl raved about him.
