Li Yun Rui in Talks for 2026 Period C-drama Gui Liang Chen with Ai Mi in Discussion for Female Lead
The rush to stick teen actresses into adult female lead roles in C-dramas continues, and really it’s just two names in Huangyang Tian Tian and Ai Mi. And now poor Li Yun Rui might be the first actor to hit both unfortunate lottos. He’s starring with Huangyang Tian Tian Rebirth the sequel to Princess Agents, and while she was only 17 when the drama was filmed she’s now since turned 18. Now word in the casting circle is that Li Yun Rui has been offered the male lead for the period C-drama Gui Liang Chen (归良辰) and the female lead in discussion is none other than Ai Mi, who is currently 17 and won’t turn 18 for another year. She’s already been shoved into a female lead role and recently filming the C-drama Que Gu (or Key to the Phoenix Heart) with Hou Ming Hao. I love me some talented child and teen actors and actresses but solely for those age roles and not elevated too early to adult in the story roles. While Ai Mi has a lot of potential, I kinda hope Li Yun Rui passes on this drama or the female lead lands with someone else in the end.

Meh. I also hope that LYR gets better casting offers. He’s done 2 dramas with Huangyang Tiantian now as a co-lead I wonder whether both him & DYX (who has done two dramas with Deng Enxi, who is just very slightly older) partly get stuck with the teenage leads because they seem to be genuinely aboveboard and decent gentlemen.
Cdramaland does a lot of great youth dramas and in costume dramas, there are always secondary and tertiary couple/pairings where skinship isn’t expected, so it’s not like they can’t get work or build their careers.
I can see them getting Huangyang Tian Tian for the Princess Agents sequel as a way to market it and get investors because of her previous connection to it. I wonder for Ai Mi- if the productions are trying to drum up buzz with potentially controversial pairings. Didn’t Ai Mi’s character in The Double get killed off because she had to go to school?
barf
Poor Ai Mi, I wish her parents stepped up to stop the agency from this. Unless they’re part of this career push ew. Do people not get enough examples from Disney kids??
Im tired of these young actresses company/managements…
I want to see Aimi paired with Zhang Ling He and Riley Wang. It’s going to be great.
