      • With five consecutive flops Cheng Yi can only be onscreen thanks to Huanrui. They really should be nice and give us a break from the water King.

Karma, karma! After everything he, Huanrui and cy horrid fans have been doing, karma. Your darling is considered poison! I do have a glorious life, of laughter!

  1. This is a good drama! Not sure why it’s not promoted more. I highly recommend giving this a try.. although have to ignore the bad English, Japanese and Cantonese. Storyline wise is quite interesting.

  2. No matter the setting, he’s just a wooden actor.
The fact that this hasn’t created any buzz isn’t surprising at all. The plot of this drama has little appeal for his predominantly teenage fan base and people who tend to watch more serious dramas usually prefer better acting.

  3. Silent tides has been acclaimed by many and CVB score was around 3 for most of the episodes. This drama is not for those who are used idol dramas. It a serious and very proper drama.

  4. This drama is doing well in ratings. CCTV moved it to capitalize on the golden time slot for the new drama, but results showed that the high ratings previously pulled in by Silent Tides dropped immediately once the viewers realized another drama aired in its place, then the ratings climbed up again when Silent Tides started airing.

  5. I’m surprised Allen has haters when I’ve never heard of him doing anything wrong. As someone who have watched over 20years of dramas, I am quite particular about the acting skills of the actors and actresses on top of requiring a unique and refreshing story. And I have watched several of Allen’s dramas, not all, but at least 7. Having watched 7 of his dramas, I think I am qualified to give my own review of his acting. From what I see, he is not a wooden actor. He can convincingly portray all the different characters in the 7 dramas I have watched of him separately, enough that I can enjoy all 7 dramas til the end. I think that itself shows he is a decent actor, even if he is not the best. Definitely watchable. Of course he is limited by the scripts he gets so I may not enjoy all of his dramas, but 7 is quite a decent number I believe. So for whoever reading, don’t believe that this actor is wooden. Just try the drama for yourself and make your own assessment.

  6. This drama is so good. A must watch. Just finished all 31 episodes tonight and it will grip you to your seats from the first to the last episode. Brilliant line of casts with outstanding acting all round. Ren Jia Lun’s acting is restrained and quietly powerful rather than flashy. He excels at conveying deep emotions of longing, heartbreak & loyalty through microexpressions of eye movements, pauses and silences. He draws viewers in not by loud dramatics but emotional sincerity and control. He is in his element here and he carried off this drama brilliantly.
