Yu Shu Xin and Hou Ming Hao Cast in Xianxia C-drama Longing for My Beloved with Rumored Supporting Cast Being all AI Generated
The xianxia C-drama formerly called Fairy Meat (神仙肉) has a new normal title Longing for My Beloved (念相思) and a new male lead. Yu Shu Xin remains the female lead and now Hou Ming Hao will be joining her rather than originally rumored male lead He Yu in a reunion pairing. The second leads will be Chen Yi Han and Chen He Yi, solid enough and both can either play good or bad characters based on what the story is. The most hilarious rumor around this drama is that other than for the four main leads above, the rest of the cast is all AI generated actors and actresses in the roles. Mwahahaha OMG I’m dying here if this is true in any way, even if some characters are AI generated it’s enough for this is be a lolz-fest. The goal is to shrink the budget by 30% to 50% and also increase the speed of filming. It also removes the risk of any stars in the drama getting into trouble after the drama airs and the drama is either cancelled or production needs to hire new stars for re-filming and AI face swapping. The drama was slated to start filming now at the end of May but has been pushed back to start filming at the end of June to give production time to check out the AI character visuals onscreen.

What…????
I hope the AI rumour isn’t true. It’s disappointing how much the entertainment world is mainly about generating lots of profit by spending as little money as possible. What happened to just wanting to make a decent show for a mainstream audience?
This makes me angry, stop using AI! I’m fine with it for special effects or animation but to replace actual humans is just wrong.
It does sound messed but at the same time would be interesting to see how they would pull it off if true. There have been so many rumors of future AI happenings here in the USA replacing movies and music artists but I have yet to see so yet. So odd.
This shift is already underway. AI-generated artwork, music, and CGI face heavy criticism due to widespread intellectual property infringement. AI functions completely rely on massive data collected online to train the AI models – machine learning! Do you think these AI providers don’t steal ideas from artists while collecting data?
I’m the wrong person to ask lol… the most of AI I have seen is on YouTube. There are so many videos made that it is hard to tell what is factual or someone simply for fun doing something. Like movie trailers and much more. What I speak of is I have yet to see an actual AI made film or whatever is being rumored to come in Hollywood. That is what I meant. Though there have been many shows and movies with the theme of AI. Hope I made sense. If there is original content that have been made using AI… I have not yet witnessed it personally or I think I haven’t. 🫤😊
An industry insider told me that AI-generated short films in the US are already flooding the internet. I even read about C vertical drama actors getting laid off earlier this year because production companies are replacing them with AI actors. It’s actually happening right now. It might sound crazy to think about AI acting, but it works just like any other AI tool. Filmmakers feed massive amounts of acting data into AI models, training them to mimic human expressions and body language for specific scripts. Are the results actually any good? Honestly, I don’t know yet. I haven’t watched those videos.
If people want to continue seeing human actors instead of Ai muppets in dramas and films the best they can do is to categorically refuse to watch this slop, no matter who the leads are.
If the first few test cases turn into giant failures, those deluded (and greedy) executives may just learn their lesson or get replaced by someone who does.
I find it mindblowing how tools that were meant to do the heavy lifting for humanity are now pushing people out of creative jobs while children continue to dig for rare metals using their bare hands.
LOL. Fortunately, I’m indifferent to the two leading actors. I don’t plan to watch the drama from the get-go.
How gross! I was just thinking about how no one is using AI for the industry-related stuff no one wants to do. Like have AI be the lowest rung of the ladder of production assistants and take all the demands and yelling from the higher-ups if they’re like 5 seconds late to unlocking filming facility door.
Might as well have the main actors be AI too if they’re worried about scandals and needing face-swapping. It’s easier to face-swap a supporting character actor than a lead actor – with all that screentime and investments tied to the leads’ popular ranking. Guess they don’t want to replace the leads with AI because investors will feel inclined to invest less money if the celebrity/actor isn’t contracted to forgo other projects -other projects headed by their competitors- in order to be physically there. I suspect the savings these production companies want will be wiped out by investments dwindling due to the perceived value of the celebrity actor’s image if you can just paste them into any scene at any time.
Oh, well, at least it protects productions from actors with messy personal lives who cause enough drama to disrupt filming, shut things down, get banned, and so on.
AI isn’t all that bad if it encourages actors to focus on their craft and work instead of stirring up drama in their personal lives.
I like both these actors, but I’m going to have to pass on this one. I don’t support AI replacing human beings in creative processes. Not to mention the AI swapped face in Pursuing Jade was awful. I loved that drama, but the AI face was distracting in the scenes where it was used.
AI has it’s place, but it’s being used in areas we should never let it. I’m also not in support of data centers using up valuable resources so that production companies can avoid paying humans, (among other things). It’s a no for me.
His fans are up in arms because of the rumors that he’s the second-billed in this drama.
Beyond no one wanting to watch AI slop, I think these production companies will discover the same thing that big business companies in the US are discovering — it is exponentially more expensive than using real people. LOL! It isn’t the extras and supporting actors that are expensive.
What the erf??? NOOOOOOOO. AI will be the end of us.
I’m going to pass. Sigh. Soon, AI will also replace the scripts and that’s my bread and butter.
No no no to AI actors!!! I will skip if tbey do this!
I dont understand how they are expecting the leads actor to give good performance talking to the air ,like wtf , support actors also help bring the best of the main leads and get in the emotions, even if AI can look like human they can not imitate human emotions
