Written and Video Preview for Episode 7 of Dr. Stranger

It’s almost time for a new episode of Dr. Stranger and the big question at the end of episode 6 was whether Park Hoon recognized Seung Hee as Jae Hee through their shared heartbeat. It was ludicrous the first time around when he pointed that out to Jae Hee, it’s even more absurd if he can actually confirm Seung Hee is Jae Hee that way. If Jae Hee is indeed Seung Hee, could she change her heartbeat to fool Hoon? What if she is Jae Hee but her heartbeat has changed from multiple surgeries and traumas since their happy youth times together? It’s clear that she has to be Jae Hee for this drama to have any purpose, for Hoon’s life to have any purpose. The big question for me is not if but why, why is Jae Hee pretending to be Seung Hee and doing all this? The easy reason is she’s been hookwinked into becoming Hoon’s enemy, the sad reason is that she is fully cognizant and aware of what she’s doing but she’s doing it to protect Hoon. Either reason requires Hoon to snap out of his one-track mind and start quietly assessing the situation and react accordingly.

The production released a third OST today and this one is the ballad of Jae Joon and Soo Hyun sung by Jeon Hye Won called “Such a Good Day”. It follows with the first OST Bobby Kim’s “Stranger” which was Park Hoon’s song and the second OST Lee Ki Chan’s “Meet You Now” is the song for Hoon and Jae Hee. I’m glad the drama released an OST for Jae Joon and Soo Hyun and hopefully it’s an precursor to them spending more time together in the next episodes. I loved Soo Hyun and Hoon’s bonding which gives Hoon a friend and colleague at the hospital, but it’s time Soo Hyun go back to spending time with her real boyfriend. If she wants to dump Jae Joon for Hoon then that’s her prerogative, but at least stop lying to Jae Joon about where she is and stop using flimsy excuses to avoid hanging out with him. What I’m looking forward to more is the hospital surgery interactions to ramp up now that Seung Hee is working at the hospital as well. The drama might as well make it a PK battle constantly between the two surgical teams and toss in even more far-fetched surgeries.

Written preview for episode 7:

Even thought Dr. Moon still suspects that the Seung Hee who looks just like Jae Hee may be a spy, but once he sees her anesthesia skills he’s so impressed that he wants her to be part of his surgical team. On the other hand, Hoon receives something left by his deceased father and the real reason his father went North years ago is finally revealed…….

  1. Also about the whole same heartbeat thing… didn’t she get her father’s heart? So there goes any validity that remains in this fictional theory 😛 Still, it’s a minor thing and won’t stop my craving for more Dr. Stranger! Can’t believe that I’m thrilled for monday to come! ^o^

    • She got her dad’s KIDNEY. It was confusing at first for me as well because the two words are so similar.

      Heart = simjang

      Kidney = sinjang

      • If it was a kidney transplant, I don’t get why her dad died in the process. Everyone has two kidneys, and usually nobody dies from a kidney transplant, so is the drama saying that both her dad’s kidneys were transplanted to her? Or was there some surgical complication?

      • Both her kidneys failed, only one of her dad’s kidney failed. So Hoon transplanted her dad’s one good kidney into her and hence he died. So she should have three kidneys in her as kidney transplants just leave the old non-functioning ones in. Taking failed kidneys out increases surgery time and risk of infection and death hence its just left inside since its no harm being there.

      • (Sorry for my lack of understanding) But then if Jae Hee had two failed kidneys, what was the original plan that Commander Cha approved of, for a transplant from a father to the daughter?

      • Comrade Cha wanted to keep the dad alive for more tests so he wanted Hoon to transplant whatever organs were healthy in Jae Hee (not her kidneys) into him to prolong his life at the expense of her life. Hoon turned it around and transplanted her dad’s one good kidney into her and saved her life and killed him.

  2. I don’t mean to bag any anesthetic skills for any doctors. But impressive anaesthetic skills? Pfft…

    What’s impressive are the Chinese martial arts style- put hand on body and you’re able to diagnose a surgical conditions. You need some sort of imagination to even write something like that.

    This drama is amusing. Thanks for recapping.

    • Hmmmmm, as an anesthesiologist myself, I have to defend/explain our profession a little bit. You can totally tell if someone has the skills to perform anesthesia for a very complex surgery. Anyone can put patient to sleep and wake them up if it’s another simple surgery, but not every anesthesiologist is comfortable doing the really complex cases. 🙂

      I do however agree that the ‘put hand on body and you’re able to diagnose a surgical conditions’ skill is absurd. It’s so ridiculous it’s fun to watch!

      Dr. Moon is hilarious! I laugh every time he shows up on the screen.

  3. But Yeah for giving us clues about the whole North Korean backstory. I’m mean, I still don’t get why everyone is trying to get Hoon (especially on a political level)

  4. I’m thinking jae hee and seung hee are two different people.
    Cos when the other north korean’s mother told him jae hee was dead, they kinda wanted to silence her? Like they thought it would ruin their plans.
