So this drama looks like Speed and Love except both leads are down and gritty, and the female lead doesn’t seem dumb as bricks. Win and win already on the set up lol. Modern romance C-drama Love For You (Chinese title 野狗骨头 Ye Gou Gu Tou meaning Wild Dog Bones) adapted from a novel is getting more interest now on … Continue reading →
Filming began last week but this week iQiyi released the first set pictorial for the period C-drama Yun Chu Ling (云初令 or Cloud’s First Command). Starring Yu Shu Xin and Zhang Yun Long, the mood is more serious and darker than her usual dramas and like I previously mentioned much more in the vein of My Journey to You. I … Continue reading →
This new year 2026 is off to new C-dramas kicking off filming that I am looking forward to. This one is a mixed bag from the casting alone but I will hope for the best. Tencent period C-drama The Road to Glory (Chinese title 归鸾 Gui Luan) will star Zhang Ling He and Lin Yun (Jelly Lin) as the leads … Continue reading →
I appreciate the airing of dramas when it aligns with the season in the narrative, so much of Shine on Me that aired a few weeks ago captured the winter romance as it blossoms into spring and summer love. Today on January 10th Youku has airdropped without any warning the modern C-drama Loving Strangers with the Chinese title 秋雪漫过的冬天 which … Continue reading →
I needed to see this as a palate cleanser. Whatever Yu Shu Xin was giving in her recently aired modern C-drama Speed and Love was so cloying and saccharine of a performance that it felt like sugar shock by midway through. I know she can do different and more similar to her performance in My Journey to You and the … Continue reading →
So the 2025 year end premiere of Shine on Me ended up delivering the first good hit of the 2026 C-drama year as the drama broke 30,000 heat index in Tencent right before it’s final few episodes. It’s two week airing run really delivered a nicely paced and sweetly written story that was a lot fluffier than I expected. The … Continue reading →
The production of the upcoming iQiyi period drama Reborn of the Rightful (Yao Yao You Qi 窈窈有期) adapted from the novel Di Mo must really want to convey that theirs is a serious drama. Not some idol fluff like male lead He Yu and his most recent drama Speed and Love, because this drama is going out of their way … Continue reading →
This is as close as it’s gotten for a Crystal Liu and Chen Xiao drama reunion, and insiders are expecting this to be confirmed soon as production begins. The two worked together on the hit period C-drama A Dream of Splendor and being both A-listers of course production teams want a reunion. I’ve covered a few possible drama projects that … Continue reading →
I got midway through Speed and Love and then dipped for two reasons. One being it’s just okay and since I read the novel I know how it goes and ends so there isn’t the curiosity to see what happens. The second is the arrival of Shine of Me whih is addicting like crack so my limited time was allocated … Continue reading →
What a roller coaster of a year for C-actress Zhao Lu Si. From the lowest of lows with her conflict with her former agency and trying to break her contract and her illness to coming back with the success of Love’s Ambition that air dropped this summer. She only has one drama left that is filmed Almost Lover and recently … Continue reading →
The evolution of C-actress Yang Mi into serious C-dramas is continuing onward as her next project will reportedly be the Youku big budget drama The Reign of Northern Wei (江山大同 Jiang Shan Da Tong). Her male lead in discussions is Liu Xue Yi and this could be the big break he’s been overdue for, and joining them is the award … Continue reading →
It’s nice to see stars that were either mid to me or unknown over time win me over, and bonus points if they pair up. C-ent casting has Wang Chu Ran and He Yu in talks for iQiyi drama Tales of the Floating World, a fantasy romance vignette drama. The story is of a demoness who falls for the God … Continue reading →
I like how C-actor Luo Yun Xi toggles effortlessly between modern and period dramas despite being better known for his period works but he still makes the effort to vary his output. Youku has just air dropped his new modern police thriller on deck that finished filming called The Truth Within (剥茧 Bo Jian which means to cut the callous) … Continue reading →
