So Youku is playing coy with giving an exact date but all airing rumors has Unveil: Jadewind with Bai Lu and Wang Xing Yue being released either by the end of January this weekend or the beginning of February next week. I am excited but after watching the newly released trailer a little less hyped solely because the drama looks … Continue reading →
The perpetual train engine that is C-drama productions keep trudging along and recently I spotted first stills and pictures for one that I’m mildly curious to check out. The C-drama is titled Genius Girlfriend and is a modern romance starring Tian Xi Wei and Hu Yi Tian. It’s an odd pairing but could be in a good way, she’s so … Continue reading →
It’s no surprise that the success of Shine on Me is already seeing cascading changes in C-ent casting carousel. This week the rumor is that Song Wei Long will be the male lead for Youku period C-drama Inverted Fate, which has been penciled in for Zhao Lu Si as her high profile comeback drama since her filming hiatus last year. … Continue reading →
C-actor Wang Xing Yue is only 23 years old this year and that’s always wild when I remember it because he’s been in so many dramas since his debut in 2020 and has really earned his chops and elevation to male lead. A lot of thinking he’s older is because he’s done so many period dramas where he always comes … Continue reading →
The first posters and teaser preview is out for Hunan TV period C-drama A Ming Dynasty Adventure (明月录 Ming Yue Lu) and I’m really liking it! Leads Wang Chu Ran and Xin Yun Lai project solid onscreen presence and chemistry and the visuals are on point, colorful without being gaudy. The drama is adapted from a novel with the hilarious … Continue reading →
I’m a bit lol-ing at the first stills and posters for Youku C-drama Transfer Gold Hairpin (Jia Jin Zai 嫁金钗), but not necessarily in a bad way. I like the color palette and leads Tian Xi Wei and Yan An are holding court with strong presence in stills. But in many of the stills it looks like a smackdown is … Continue reading →
Well this is as bizarre of a K-drama lead casting pairing as any that can be conjured up haha. Nothing good or bad, just random. K-ent is reporting that Ha Ji Won and Kim Min Kyu have been offered the leads in an upcoming tvN drama titled Affair Hunters. That’s the entirety of the news article, no brief synopsis of … Continue reading →
So this isn’t one of those idol dramas where casting is all over the place until it’s locked down right before filming. Period C-drama The Reign of Northern Wei (江山大同 Jiang Shan Da Tong) is a big budget big name cast serious project that typically has the leads set early on so this is a bit of a surprise. The … Continue reading →
I don’t think this is a high profile big budget C-drama by any means but I do think risk to reward opportunity is higher with smaller projects. Li Hong Yi and Gong Xue Er are in talks for an upcoming period romance C-drama titled Princess Zhaoyang, adapted from a novel, and without reading it I can already give the usual … Continue reading →
I’m so excited to hear that Youku is reportedly scheduling the investigative period C-drama Unveil: Jadewind for early February 2026. That’s a few weeks ago and right before the coming lunar new year so if it’s good should have a shot to get high viewership thanks to the holidays off for people. Starring Bai Lu and Wang Xing Yue, it’s … Continue reading →
Looks like C-actor Yang Yang is now firmly in the big male lead drama level, where all his projects are top lined by him and hence his female leads will have to be either up-and-comers or actresses that are well known but not able to command their own top billing. His next drama is scheduled as the Tencent wuxia period … Continue reading →
So it’s now countdown time to the start of filming for the revenge and romance period C-drama adapted from the novel The Rebirth of the Malicious Empress of Military Lineage. The leads will indeed be Dylan Wang and Meng Zi Yi, and they will share equal top billing for their roles. The fandom fights did not derail either of their … Continue reading →
This is one period drama female lead selection that has gone through many iterations but from all industry casting accounts this is it. C-actress Liu Xie Ning is reportedly the last one standing and will join male lead Li Yun Rui in the Youku big budget period C-drama Gui Liang Chen. Last year there was talk of teenage Ai Mi … Continue reading →
