While I am enjoying Heirs/The Inheritors with a lowered expectation and an enjoyment of the little details in there that particularly intrigue me, I wish the drama could be better. A lot better, so that the enjoyment lived up to its sprawling cast, famed screenwriter cred, and clearly big budget. It’s not a hot mess but there is a sensation … Continue reading →
I love the development of Mi Rae and Shin’s interest in each other in this time line. Apart from the initial misunderstanding antagonism, they’ve gotten past that and have become this nebulous mix of colleagues and friends with an overarching attraction to each other. Try as future Mi Rae wants, Mi Rae has no male awareness of Se Joo and … Continue reading →
Looks like not only will the beyond strange onscreen coupling of Lee Bum Soo and Yoona from SNSD be happening in the upcoming KBS drama Prime Minister and I, the production went on a casting roll today with four new additions to the cast. Playing the second male lead is the always adorable Yoon Si Yoon, who was last in … Continue reading →
Just as I thought there was literally no way the MBC sageuk Goddess of Fire could sink any lower into the cesspool of drama crap, the penultimate episode managed to actually shock and awe me. This from a drama with as much finesse as an elephant trying to change a battery. GoF is wrapping up this week and all I … Continue reading →
I haven’t been mulling over the narrative progression in the first 4 episodes of Heirs/The Inheritors between the weekly episode waits. My uptake for this drama is surprisingly in the moment, and I don’t think there is too much grist to sort through so far. It’s rather straightforward with the characters and conflicts without too much complexity at this point. … Continue reading →
Sorry chingus, I’m on a business trip this week so likely no time for full recaps complete with a zillion stills of the increasingly perfect and gorgeous Kim Shin. Episode 3 of Marry Him If You Dare was supremely awesome, ratcheting up the four way love complication as well as the time travel mystery. A new time traveler appears towards … Continue reading →
If the behemoth that is SM Entertainment produces a drama, it might not be geared towards making money and could function more as a platform to showcase its stable of young talent. That is how I always saw To the Beautiful You, but SM does have an acting arm called SM C&CÂ (culture and content) that reps very established actors in … Continue reading →
I typically toggle my posts so I’m not posting about one drama or topic consecutively. That pattern is getting tossed aside right now because holy drama llama my OTP in Marry Him If You Dare is kissing soon! Kyaaaaaa, I would expire of happiness but for the fact that the first kiss between Kim Shin and Yoon Eun Hye looks … Continue reading →
Monday is here and it’s going to be interesting to see if Marry Him If You Dare (Mirae’s Choice) can build confidently on the groundwork laid in the first two episodes. KBS released some new stills, one set shows Kim Shin in his natural habitat as an anchorman in the news studio, and the other set shows Mi Rae and … Continue reading →
This picture is so odd from the standpoint of seeing three K-stars that one never would have imagined standing together at an awards ceremony. I finally figured out what award Kim Jae Wook was headed to Japan to receive at the Korean Entertainment 10th Anniversary Awards in Japan. He was getting the special Producer’s Choice award, which in layman’s terms … Continue reading →
I walk a fine line between wanting my actors to gorgeously grace my screen, and then cringing when anyone aims for that ideal and goes for enhancements that butcher their face. I get that not everyone is born beautiful, but some lucky few are, which is why I am amused to see a natural specimen of perfection like Kim Jae … Continue reading →
It’s been six months since two high profile A-list Korean acting couples were revealed. Since then its been radio silence from both sets, which doesn’t surprise me since it’s easy to stay on the down low when we’re talking very well-connected and influential folks are involved. Not to mention all four of them are industry veterans who know how to … Continue reading →
I’m really enjoying the “what the heck happened in the future” mystery inherent in Marry Him If You Dare. The first two episodes have laid down a solid foundation while still leaving many unknowns for a later reveal. What’s marvelous about future Mi Rae’s character is that she’s a ball of emotional and rational contradictions. Contrast that with present Mi … Continue reading →
