Things are not looking exactly up my alley over at SETTV for its upcoming TW-dramas that are slated to replace the two current duds – Sunday night’s Love Around with George Hu and Annie Chen and Friday night’s Just You with Aaron Yan and Puff Guo. Love Around is boring and insufferable, but Just You has a sliver of dramatic … Continue reading →
Over in drama-land, the cast of the MBC weekend makjang super birth secret drama Scandal: That Very Shocking and Immoral Incident, have been pulled through the wringer and then some trying to sort out all the mess created by the parental generation. From what I saw of the filming, the cast appears to get along very well and enjoying the … Continue reading →
I honestly haven’t a clue what took the upcoming MBC weekend drama Golden Rainbow that long to confirm long rumored male lead Jung Il Woo, in addition to the cast of UEE (Ojakkyo Brothers), Lee Jae Yoon (Cruel City), Cha Ye Ryun (Royal Family, A Star’s Lover), and Kim Sang Joong (City Hunter). The only thing I can think of … Continue reading →
The reason Marry Him If You Dare is a fresher riff on last year’s bevy of time-traveling K-dramas is due to its central premise of choice. You can say my observation is a given since its built into the Korean drama title of Mirae’s Choice, but it really stands out when a quick perusal of all the recent time-traveling dramas … Continue reading →
With the premiere of Heirs on SBS, clearly its time the production of the follow up drama My Love From Another Star (formerly known as Man From Another Star) starts getting down to the business of finalizing its man cast. Kim Soo Hyun has been onboard since forever, and Jeon Ji Hyun was recently confirmed despite being widely rumored to … Continue reading →
The action fully moved back to Korea in episode 4 of Heirs/The Inheritors, but it doesn’t immediately pick up the pace or amp up the narrative hook. It’s still a drama that aimed high and is delivering a curveball. This really is not the drama I was expecting, and the sense of being surprised adds to my enjoyment of it. … Continue reading →
The MBC special sageuk Goddess of Fire is ending next week. I can hardly believe it, having genuinely experienced a drama that has managed to suck from beginning to end that I bitterly stuck with. There is nothing that can happen next week to redeem this steaming pile of dung, even a group orgy will only leave me wondering how … Continue reading →
I’m sticking with Heirs/The Inheritors because I’m enjoying it, but it doesn’t hurt if Kim Eun Sook piles on fanservice of the type that I personally love. With that said, even though it’s a small episode 4 only cameo appearance, I’m stoked that Heechul is taking a turn around Heirs-land playing an idol star. Krystal’s character Lee Bo Na is … Continue reading →
The more I watch Heirs/The Inheritors, the less it feels like a Kim Eun Sook drama. Normally screenwriters can evolve and change from drama to drama, but Kim Eun Sook’s resume of popular K-dramas over the last decade have been consistent with her thematic presentation and narrative sharpness. If I didn’t know any better, I would have never guessed she … Continue reading →
I didn’t want to post about this until the official news outlets started talking about it, but last week in an unrelated post the subject of the upcoming K-drama Miss Korea came up and in the comments section I discussed how Lee Yeon Hee was unofficially the leading lady SM wanted for the role. This week the media confirmed the … Continue reading →
This might be the fastest and hardest I have ever seen a Kim Eun Sook male lead fall for the female lead. I thought I’d seen it all with the infamous Kim Joo Won (Hyun Bin) from Secret Garden when he took one gander at the stunt woman in action Ha Ji Won and fell head over heels for Key … Continue reading →
Unf, when drama love arrives, it hurts so so good. Marry Him If You Dare started off solidly enough but episode 2 vaulted this one from like to love for me. All the leads are getting fleshed out as the narrative barrels full speed ahead, leaving me fairly scrambling to absorb too much information and trying to arrange it in … Continue reading →
Awwww, I really love this particular still of Lee Min Ho from the latest batch just released by SBS for Heirs/The Inheritors. This set is the third featuring the OTP of Eun Sang and Kim Tan hanging out, and it’s probably the best of the lot. The ones where he was all “It’s okay, baby!” and the set from the … Continue reading →
