This was a great summer for C-actor Yang Yang, redeeming his last lackluster drama outing of Fireworks of the Heart with a resounding hit in The Immortal Ascension. So it’s no surprise that lots of drama male lead roles are headed his way and there will likely be melons aplenty until he picks the next one. This week there is … Continue reading →
Every since Byun Woo Seok was cast in the big budget and high profile Netflix K-drama adaption of Korean webtoon Solo Leveling, the attention went to who would be his female lead. While the webtoon story isn’t focused on a romance and with the title of solo leveling the male lead is basically on a solo quest there are still … Continue reading →
This looks so ridiculous and absurd but coming from Kim Eun Seok I feel like there has to be more than what I’m seeing. Because what I’m seeing from the set up in the newly released teaser for Genie, Make a Wish is just…..bad lol. But then again, everyone thought Secret Garden and the soul swap would be a hot … Continue reading →
It’s only midway through the airing of When Destiny Brings the Demon but the opening Douban ratings are already out, indicating a lot of voters which makes sense for it being adapted from a popular novel. It got a low 5.5 which is more par for the course with dramas of this genre, to compare with other recent less than … Continue reading →
The scandal with Xu Kai‘s love life has turned into a clown car of different players and tangents sprouting left and right. It’s entertaining in a trainwreck way but also rather impressive that so far there doesn’t seem to be any tarring and feathering of him. The same may not be true for his alleged cheating other actress Zhao Qing, … Continue reading →
Here comes the K-netizen perfection police lol. I think it must be exhausting trying to find reasons to nitpick but here we are again. tvN premiered new weekend drama Bon Appétit, Your Majesty to a very promising start, good opening ratings close to 5% and then going up nearly 2% to high 6% range. But this week there are rumblings … Continue reading →
If Bai Lu is the hardest working C-actress in the industry doing dramas basically nonstop, her counterpart has to be Wang Xing Yue who has gone from one set to another with barely any gap since about two years ago when he was elevated from main supporting to male lead status. I’m not complaining, even playing similarly described smart/resourceful/capable characters … Continue reading →

Like a parched and hungry traveler in the desert of K-drama land, new tvN weekend drama Bon Appétit, Your Majesty has premiered to be the much needed sustenance for viewers. I always appreciate a visually gorgeous drama during the preview phase, even if the end product doesn’t end up being my cup of tea. Filming has recently wrapped for period C-drama Liang Chen Mei Jing (良陈美锦) which is adapted from the novel Displaying Beautiful Brocade. The leads are Ren Min and Ci Sha and I’m kinda game for this unexpected … Continue reading →
The Chinese title for C-drama The Wanted Detective is actually Calming Waves, which described the airing of the drama that came and went without much buzz or ripple. But I think those who checked it out like me and got inexplicably hooked are more than care to admit, and the drama may have legs in a better way than dramas … Continue reading →
