The fallout for Cha Tae Hyun and Kim Jun Ho stemming from texts taken from their former 1N2D costar singer Jung Joon Young appears suitable for the infraction in question. Both stars have taken a leave from all their entertainment programs and issued sincere apologies, but also explaining that the gambling in question didn’t take place in Thailand, was a golf game between friends, the wager was for a few hundred bucks equivalent in US dollars, and in the end the winner Cha Tae Hyun gave it all back. South Korea outlaws all gambling and calling it a “joke” doesn’t quite cut it. It’s like saying I took a puff but didn’t inhale. A lot of Asian men are into gambling from casinos to horse racing to mahjong and cards, it’s kinda a cultural and societal head rush to wager and win. I don’t think Cha Tae Hyun and Kim Jun Ho need to do more than apologize and lay low for awhile, it’s unfortunate they live in a country where gambling is illegal because in most countries what they did isn’t wrong and definitely not illegal.
