For those who haven’t watched tvN romance drama Mama Fairy and the Woodcutter (Tale of the Gyeryong Fairy) and don’t want to spoiled then stop now. I don’t mind being spoiled and actually watched the first two episodes of Mama Fairy before dropping it because it just didn’t hook me. Female lead Moon Chae Won was adorable as the fairy looking for her reincarnated husband along with tiger daughter Mina, but I didn’t like male lead Yoon Hyun Min who was annoying and overacting though I figured he would gradually be redeemed as the drama progressed. The drama wrapped this past week with a ratings run totally consistent around 3.5% which is decent for a tvN drama but it felt like the drama didn’t generate any buzz. But the ending is generating tons of buzz and for sure now I want to go back and watch because Moon Chae Won ends up with the second male lead Seo Ji Hoon! And male lead Yoon Hyun Min ends up with second female lead Jeon Soo Jin. That’s such a rare full reversal of the K-drama pairing tropes that I love it and even better is Seo Ji Hoon was already more endearing in the first two episodes I watched. Totes going to go back and marathon this one now. Continue reading
