Why does Jung Woo keep getting all grabbity with Soo Yeon? Seriously writer? Why the need to make him so physically aggressive towards her? I think one huge problem I have with this drama is that it insists on making Jung Woo the POV character when really it ought to be Soo Yeon. Sigh. I just watched the preview for … Continue reading →
Much as I’m finding enjoyment in Missing You for reasons unrelated to its quality writing or lack thereof, it’s truly frustrating to have the really obvious ham-handed narrative shoved in my face all the time. This drama feels like the writer is writing around her conclusion or tailoring things to fit her script. As opposed to an organic fluid approach … Continue reading →
It’s weird how Missing You keeps my interest just enough so that I am curious what will happen but not enough where I care about the characters. I feel like the drama is written on a river of emotions and feelings but no one feels like real people. Aside from Jung Woo’s interactions with Soo Yeon’s mom, or the little … Continue reading →
It’s funny how the ratings for Missing You continue to increase inversely proportional to how the excessive dramatics are being toned down. Though I really do believe the ratings are buoyed by a combination of three popular young actors in the lead along with a story that can be quite addicting even if sense took a long walk and still … Continue reading →
The latest K-news reports have revealed that Hyung Joon is starting his revenge plan towards his older half-brother Han Tae Joon in the upcoming episode of Missing You. Towards Soo Yeon/Zoe he is warm and loving, but in front of others he never shows what he’s thinking. Hyung Joon remembers with startling clarity how he lost his mother because of … Continue reading →
It’s nice to see MBC whipping out the nice cameras for Missing You, which it used on the first few episodes of Arang and the Magistrate which really showed in the visual pop of setting the stage in that fantasy period world. Isn’t the screencap above where Hyung Joon and Soo Yeon are overlaid absolutely breathtaking? Nice Guy was helmed … Continue reading →
A drama obsession can flicker on in the most impossible to predict and oftentimes inconsequential of ways. All it took was one look, from him to her, and I was lost. Even as I bemoan the writing lapses in Missing You, I find myself looking for ways to make the drama make sense, if only to add to the enjoyment … Continue reading →
I was wondering if I should do this post next month but I know I’ll get too busy with year end work crunch plus the holiday prep not to mention this year I’m traveling again back to Asia the last two weeks of December. It’s better to start now and I’m sure this will be fun for everyone. I always … Continue reading →
I know I’m totally Yoo Seung Ho-bombing the playground here, which you can either chalk up to momentary madness or the honest truth that the boy is beyond winning in his role as Kang Hyung Joon in Missing You. As usual, ignore me if this isn’t your thing, all my obsessions wane eventually. During yesterday’s episode 6 of MY, both … Continue reading →
Now that the adult actors have arrived, the ratings for Missing You keep rocketing upward likely due to the combination of super weak competition (The Great Seer is a complete failure and Jeon Woo Chi has started off awkward and not very coherent) and a solid one-two-three acting punch in popular young actors Yoochun, Yoon Eun Hye, and Yoo Seung Ho (heh, … Continue reading →
Much as I want to park myself in front of the computer to recap Missing You episode 6, at least the Soo Yeon-Hyung Joon scenes, I’ve got a giant turkey to wrangle and a bajillion delicious side dishes to conjure up. I wish I had a magic wand. Or minions. Either will do. So I’ll have to see what I … Continue reading →
I was all set to recap only my beloved Hyung Joon-Soo Yeon scenes from Missing You and then habit kicked in and before I realized it I recapped all of episode 5. Oopsie. I wish I only watched the scenes I wanted because watching everything else continues to highlight for me how utterly hackneyed the writing is. The moment the … Continue reading →
Okay, it’s official. Until this drama becomes as dumb as May Queen (and I pray to god it doesn’t because that drama blows so hard whales respond to its call of suckitude), from here on out I will be recapping all Hyung Joon-Soo Yeon scenes from Missing You. Normally I would recap the entire drama since I do love Yoon … Continue reading →
