The wait for Legend of the Female General may be nearing the end, after an aborted attempt to premiere early this year in January got scuttled due to the scandal of a major male supporting lead. The production quickly decided to re-film his scenes with a new actor and AI face swap into the drama. That has been finished now … Continue reading →
This is probably as good as it gets for Tencent sitting on the fully finished and high profile period C-drama Legend of the Female General with Zhou Ye and Cheng Lei. In early January there was word that Tencent was going to air the drama at the end of that month around lunar new year. Then a week late supporting … Continue reading →
With so many period C-dramas airing between November of last year through January now it feels like the backlog of projects got released so now I’m back on the anticipation wagon for a slew of projects getting announced or starting to film. This week there is insider industry confirmation that Zhou Ye and Xu Kai will be pairing up for … Continue reading →
So the early airing rumors last month said Legend of the Female General would be coming in Q1 2025, likely by March. But now the more concrete airing rumors say the drama has been moved up by Tencent and will now air this month in January, my guess is towards the end of the month. This may be my personal … Continue reading →
So we’re not going to see this drama until sometime in 2025, likely early in the year, but still it’s totally giving me I WANT THIS NOW! energy haha. Legend of the Female General with Zhou Ye and Cheng Lei released its first teaser last week and wowsers did it excite me. I knew nothing about the story but the … Continue reading →
So this is one of those gossip reveals that make you go “Oh, now that explains it”. Apparently C-actress Zhou Ye has been cultivating a cool and unapproachable image by never smiling on red carpets and in pictorial events for brands at the order of her agency. The order is that she never shows teeth in any picture and if … Continue reading →
Oooh this sounds interesting, and also reminds me that I still need to find time to watch C-drama Reset. Bai Jing Ting and Zhou Ye are in talks for a C-drama titled Give Me Five (Chinese title 逆时侦查组 Reverse Time Detective Squad) that is a time loop story hence it reminds everyone of Reset which was a big hit for … Continue reading →
Striking while the iron is hot is so important in entertainment whenever there is a breakout or buzz. It’s great seeing supporting actors and actresses get noticed but if one doesn’t quickly have a follow up then the momentum seems to die down fast. Cheng Lei was talked about so much after My Journey to You for his acting and … Continue reading →
So I don’t think this will derail C-actress Zhou Ye‘s career but it’s definitely one of this situations where she could have done it differently to avoid this bad press. This week Zhou Ye attended a movie event and afterwards she was walking backstage where a lot of event organizers and media were present through the hallways. 6th Princess (CCTV-6) … Continue reading →
Well C-actor Cheng Lei certainly has parlayed his chemistry laden supporting male lead turn in My Journey to You last you into an even smexier male lead upgrade in the just finished filming period C-drama Legend of the Female Lead. With that title and top billed female lead Zhou Ye as a strong female-centric story, I’m here for Cheng Lei … Continue reading →
So this is one of those cheaper to produce but could be a small hit C-dramas that are so prolific in C-ent. The reportedly soon to air college age romance C-drama Everyone Loves Me starring Lin Yi and Zhou Ye is adapted from the same name novel but honestly from the story line and previews borrows so many elements from … Continue reading →
I really like this casting of the two young leads and feel like with the lack of liuliang baggage this could be a sleeper hit. Filming remains underway since late last year with period C-drama Legend of the Female General (锦月如歌 Jin Yue Ru Ge) starring Zhou Ye and Cheng Lei with both actually playing generals so it’s like a … Continue reading →
