Well this is a legit competition and I’m glad to see it was a decision made that went down to the final selection. Last week it was announced that Zhou Ye and Cheng Lei would headline the C-drama adaptation of Legend of the Female General based on the novel. She’s been leveling up as the female lead in one drama … Continue reading →
After Cheng Lei got his breakout for My Journey to You there was talk of his leveling up to male lead and it’s here with the kick off filming of Legend of the Female General. The female lead is Zhou Ye who is also getting solid female lead work but still cementing her rising status so this will be an … Continue reading →
So there’s a new period C-drama that premiered last few days, Scent of Time with Zhou Ye and Wang Xing Yue. That Zhou Ye already gets first billing is pretty funny to me, don’t get me wrong she’s so cute looking and has potential but her acting is still quite green. The drama has her female lead die after doing … Continue reading →
Today on August 22nd is also lunar date July 7th which means Chinese Valentine’s Day, which remains a celebrated date but so does Western Valentine’s Day on February 14th so it’s like getting two V-days heh. Many of the upcoming C-dramas released cute couple featured dramas or BTS pics to promote their drama on this day and most are just … Continue reading →
So…….I find myself quite looking forward to the next Youku xianxia C-drama Back From the Back after the latest preview came out this week. The drama is confirmed for a May 10th premiere after the (rocks fall down?) ending of Till the End of the Moon next Tuesday. The latest preview is just adorable, leaning heavily on the stoic dragon … Continue reading →
This rumor has been making the rounds in C-ent and has been gaining steam so it’s time to talk about it. HK-director Tsui Hark is reportedly making a new C-movie adaptation of Louis Cha‘s epic novel Legend of the Condor Heroes in a three film series. The first movie is called Legend of the Condor Heroes: The Great Hero and … Continue reading →
Youku is following up xianxia C-drama Till the End of the Moon with Luo Yun Xi and Bai Lu with a kinda younger version of the same tortured fated love xianxia drama Back From the Brink with Hou Ming Hao and Zhou Ye I checked out the promos to see if it’s up my alley. Zhou Ye got her big … Continue reading →
In C-ent the scandals are either catastrophic career ending ones or more blips with more negative buzz than actual ramifications. C-actor Chen Fei Yu recently went through the latter after pictures were released of him sleeping in bed taken by clearly a bed mate after intimacy and it appears that a twenty-something unmarried man having sex is not a cancellable … Continue reading →
I continue to believe it when I see it with upcoming C-drama airings but it’s useful to check in occasionally. For December 2022, there are a slew of on deck dramas both period and modern, more modern ones but for the higher profile period C-dramas there are Forbidden Love with Dylan Wang and Chen Yu Qi as well as Back … Continue reading →
The promos for this C-movie keep saying 2022 but it’s like less than a month left and I don’t see a release date in theaters yet. Yesterday Once More starring Chen Fei Yu and Zhou Ye as wholesome young lovers dealing with time as their invisible enemy is a remake of a hit Japanese movie My Tomorrow, Your Yesterday, the … Continue reading →
This summer of 2022 was really a two-horse race of Love Between Fairy and Devil and Love Like the Galaxy, and it wasn’t for television ratings are both are web dramas but for buzz and cache. My two cents says both dramas are male lead dominant, i.e. it benefitted Dylan Wang and Wu Lei respectively more than the female leads. … Continue reading →
This certainly is a helpful chart (see below) and these will be like 80% of the leading ladies we see in C-dramas in the next 3-5 years in regular rotation. With the remaining the past and still current 4 Flowers like Yang Zi, Yang Mi, Dilraba Dilmarut, Liu Shi Shi, Crystal Liu, and Bai Lu who are even more in … Continue reading →
A C-movie is coming that seems suitable as a remake thanks to some really prime young star casting. The movie is called My Tomorrow, Your Yesterday with the Chinese title Reverse Counting Love You, but the original Japanese movie is called Boku wa Ashita, Kinou no Kimi to Date Suru (Tomorrow’s Me, Went on a Date with Yesterday’s You). The … Continue reading →
