Second Trailer and Poster for Live-action Attack on Titan Movie Ups the Epic Intensity
Excitement continues to mount for the upcoming two-fer Attack on Titan live-action movies. Consider me a convert with the just released second movie trailer, this was one story with such dense mythology and special effects needed I actually thought it was impossible for Japan to pull off a live-action adaptation. Not only has Japan managed to pull it off, it invested the funds to film two movies simultaneously with a scheduled release this August and September. I’m crazy about the second trailer, capturing the chaotic and apocalyptic feel of the story with all the actors selling me their characters, especially Miura Haruma as main lead Eren.
The second movie poster has also dropped, showing the Female Titan and the Colossal Titan along with main characters Eren, Mikasa, Armin, Sasha, Jean, Hans, and new character Shikishima, who is described as the best fighter so may be the substitute for Levi. It’s funny to see normally nerdy Hasegawa Hiroki (most recently seen as the noble unemployed male lead in Date) as the kickass dark horse warrior. There are tons of major characters missing from the live-action movie such as Reiner, Bertolt, Historia, Ymir, just to name a few, with of course Levi’s absence being the giant pink elephant in the room. Unless they are saving him for a surprise appearance at the end of the first movie or something like that.
“Over one hundred years prior to the beginning of the story, giant humanoid creatures called Titans suddenly appeared and nearly wiping out humanity, devouring humans without remorse or reason. What remains of humanity now resides within three enormous concentric walls towns: the outermost is Wall Maria; the middle wall is Wall Rose, and the innermost is Wall Sheena. Inside these walls, humanity has lived in peace and safety for one hundred years; many people growing up without ever having seen a Titan. This all changes when one day a 200 foot tall Titan mysteriously appears after a strike of lightning and breaches the outer wall of the Shiganshina district, a town inside Wall Maria, allowing the smaller Titans to invade the district. An Armored Titan then smashes clean through Wall Maria, forcing mankind to abandon the land between Wall Maria and Wall Rose, evacuating the remaining population into the inner districts. The sudden influx of population causes turmoil and famine. The story of Attack on Titan starts around the adventures of Eren Yaeger, his foster sister Mikasa Ackerman, and their childhood friend Armin Arlert. After the wall which protects their hometown of Shinganshina is breached by Titans, Eren watches in horror as one of them eats his mother. Vowing to kill all Titans, Eren enlists in the military along with his friends.”
Second movie trailer for Attack on Titan:
I don’t see the 3DMG in action. I hope that they are in the movie..
I’m still smarting from the exclusion of Levi in the live-action movie but I’ve got to admit, the trailer looks badass!
First I saw Haruma Miura as Eren, I really doubt he will suit for this role. But now I can see it that he is perfect for this role. I am going to watch this because of Miura
OMG!!! The effects look amazing. I’m definitely excited for this live action, I love both the anime and manga~
…and not a hint of Eren’s titan form. Maybe next trailer? However that was a great trailer/teaser. It’s shaping up to look fantastic. I of course will miss Levi but i really really hope Hasegawa Hiroki’s character could be him (though he’s so tall, and Levi is …short)And he’s pretty hardcore nerdy in Date. It’s interesting there’s a Female Titan in the poster-I guess it’s not Annie’s but the one that eats Eren’s mom. Anyhow, waiting now for the next trailer!
Woah.
OMG I’m so excited! Though where’s Levi…. maybe that’s going to be the surprise factor of the movie when it premiers. LOL
After reading this article I’ve gone into Wikipedia.
Trying to find out as much information as possible about this Manga. I might be tempted to watch the anime
eh… the manga is not that great. its just that its very gritty and plenty of people die not something u normally see in the mainstream shonen jump mangas hence why it suddenly got popular. but there has been a ton of bandwagon jumpers who rave about it like crazy. kinda like those final fantasy fans who rave how ff7 is the best (usually because its their first ff and they havent rly played better)
story wise its just ok, but the main characters are annoying, the only thing thats good is one of the side character, levi.
trailer looks interesting. hopefully eren isnt as annoying as in the manga. hoping this film does good.
i hope its not like all the usual manga to live action movie adaptions the japanese do which are just mediocre.
only few work it and one of those is rurouni kenshin (although objectively that one was good, i hated how they had to condense the mange and merge stuff, cast takei emi as kaoru, cast aoi yu as megumi which doesnt suit her since shes not a beauty, the crappy saito gatotsu (saito was my fav character), and last but not least cast kamen rider den-o as lead, who i loathe as an actor)
