Cable network tvN is combining two popular genres time-travel and medical together for its late summer drama. This isn’t the first time K-dramas have done this, most notably Faith and Dr. Jin, but what the major networks couldn’t get right hopefully some tvN magic can pull off considering the drama has now found interesting leads to tackle an ambitious work. Deserving of the Name (or Living Up to One’s Name) is the Dr. Jin reverse drama where a renowned medical practitioner acupuncturist from 16th century Joseon era time-travels forward to modern times and encounters a medical student. Signing on is Kim Nam Gil as the time-traveling doctor Heo Im (a compatriot of famed Heo Jun) from the past while Kim Ah Joong plays the present day cardiothoracic surgery resident. The drama is slated to air after Secret Forest with Jo Seung Woo and Bae Doo Na.

Directing is PD Hong Jong Chan of Dear My Friends and Secret Hotel, while the script is by screenwriter Kim Eun Hee who was the second writer on The Queen’s Classroom.
