Well this is a random four-box selection lol. Not that I have a complaint about any one selection just never would have smushed them into the same group. Popular and long-running Japanese ladies magazine 25ans held a poll of its readers (skewing 30s-20s age bracket) to ask who are the new or current generation of the Four Hallyu Kings, OG group consisted of Lee Byung Hun, Jang Dong Gun, Won Bin, and Bae Yong Jun. Two are basically retired and two have weathered scandals heh. The winners of the poll as the current generation of K-stars that are the new faces of Hallyu are Hyun Bin, V, Lee Jong Seok, and Cha Eun Woo. The tall pretty boy is definitely the trend now and all four definitely have the popularity and looks to merit wearing this new crown.

Wha-at?
??????????
Lol
Not bad at all, for Hyun Bin after 2 decades of his career, LJS who’s been away for military service since 2019, and V who isn’t even an actor lol (but BTS is exceptional in their own right and definitely the most popular in terms of fandom).
What about CEW? Nothing to say about him? Lol.
Cha Eun Woo, V and no Kim Soo Hyun, Park Bo Gum,Lee Min Ho or even Gong Yoo…that list is indeed very random!
Eh, V? Did the guy even have a drama?
CEW??
Not to belittle but does he even have a drama that so popular?
I personally didn’t see it but people say True Beauty was quite popular internationally.
V was part of Hwarang with Seojun. I think that’s the only drama he had? so i’ll credit this as him being an idol. As for CEW, True Beauty seems to be quite popular and I do hope his acting really improved – though I don’t have plan to watch it just yet. MIIGB scarred me.
I will pick none of those four. I’ll go with Jung Ha In, Park Bo Gum, Lee Min Ho,and Kim Soo Hyun
Not familiar with the poll but it says Hallyu and KPop is Hallyu. BTS is arguably the biggest cultural export of Korea so having V on the list makes sense. But again, I don’t know what the list is about or if it’s supposed to be exclusive to actors.
There’s 3 generations of actors in this group of new hallyu kings. Don’t know if it’s a good thing for Hyun Bin to be grouped here being almost 20 years older than the youngest one.
So happy for Lee Jong Suk! I’m glad he’s still popular in Japan even after his 2-yr absence. It’s a lucrative market so it’s good to know he has a big fan base there.
HB and LJS are fine. We got it.
The other two is lol.
These four together in a list is very random.
I think the actual “award” for this is “Face Genius”, based on facial features or I guess handsomeness. It’s a Japanese/ Korean term that doesn’t make sense in another language. There’s also award for “Best national boyfriend”, “Best body” and a host of “awards” which other actors/ idols are included.
Hyun Bin is hot in Japan after CLOY so not surprised he is included. BTS is also v popular there. CEW is likely cuz of True Beauty. I guess the surprising one is LJS since he’s just out of military and did not have recent work in Japan. But Netflix has brought back a lot of previous Kdramas to Japanese audience so every drama may seem recent.
One more thing – I thot this was selected by the fashion editors and not via a poll?
This is the original article:

They were not named as “Hallyu Kings”, but “Face Geniuses”. The four new Hallyu Kings in Japan by media (arguably) were named Hyun Bin, Park Seo Jun, Kim So Hyun and Park Bo Gum. And only Hyun Bin and Park Seo Jun dramas one year later still going strong in Japan and were parodied and mentioned on their TV shows.
Koala should have added the link to the source, instead of misleading readers. And unfortunately, she won’t even correct it. Tsk-tsk.
You meant Kim Soo Hyun, right? Dunno why people keep mixing up those names. Not that hard to get right.
