Fashion house Gucci is striking while the iron is hot and snapping up two already top stars who have hit a recent career new high. Lee Jung Jae and Shin Mina have been named new Gucci Global Ambassadors for the brand and their first pictorials are out modeling from the Fall/Winter line. It’s…….interesting to say the least. Most of the looks are your usual couture assemblage where attention to detail, luxe fabrics, and/or edgy cuts draw your eye to clothing that isn’t practical and instead use to stand out. Shin Mina’s looks are okay, perhaps if she was with Gucci prior to filming Hometown Cha Cha Cha then her outfits for that drama would be more sleek and less country hodge podge. As for Lee Jung Jae, one would think it is hard to mess up a suit but Gucci did it here with a suit that has fur arms and HOMG is it just awful to look at. The cutest part is that Lee Jung Jae isn’t even trying to high fashion pose in his shots, he straight up has a “I’m just happy to be here” billion dollar smile and I love it!

I really like LJJ’s attitude towards his new found global fame after the success of squid games. He is genuinely enjoying the ride including a fashion house stint knowing that it will be fleeting and will all die down once a new trend comes along. Thankfully he is a bankable actor and he has built decades of acting career. Any new or rising actor will mediaplay this and overexpose himself while the iron is hot.
It’s precisely because he has a career of almost 3 decades that he knows to take this in stride, Squid Game isn’t a make or break for him the way it would be for a younger actor. I don’t blame them for hustling!
Gucci in 2021, “sleek”?? This isn’t Tom Ford era (or even Tom Ford hangover era lol), in fact the clothes on a bad day are exactly what koala described above as a hodgepodge haha, with a few nice outfits like in their recent Hollywood collection. But on a good day they have this bohemian and eclectic vibe. Anyway LJJ and SMA carry them well, she wasn’t a professional model for nothing.
A really odd choice here, neither of them have this high fashion luxury aura like their other ambassadors, IU and EXO’s Kai. Shin Mih Ah in particular can fit another kind of brand like Dior or Celine imo, a little more classic.
