Kim Nam Gil Grows Out His Hair and Expands His Ability to Criminal Profiling in First Posters and Stills for SBS Fri-Sat Drama Through the Darkness
I’m glad this drama is starting after the new year in 2022 because it definitely seems too dark and serious for a Christmas holiday start. With that said, SBS is likely looking forward to the arrival of police procedural Through the Darkness (Those Who Read Hearts of Evil) on the next Fri-Sat slot to see if it can revive the flagging ratings of currently airing Now, We are Breaking Up. This will be the first of the one-two punch of male lead Kim Nam Gil in 2022 as he’s also going to drop fantasy horror drama Island on tvN in the coming summer, but first this drama where he plays a top criminal profiler adept at reading the minds of serial killers. Haha, I would have loved to see a cross-over to Mouse. This drama is adapted from a novel by a real life criminal profiler and Kim Nam Gil is going for the serious on the outside but don’t forget the hair conditioner look for this role because he’s definitely go the wavy locks going not sure why. I’m definitely curious about this drama and just ask that the police not be criminal stupid and leave it to the genius profiler to solve all the cases.
OK I think he’s gorgeous without facial hair and I love longer hair on guys so my eyes are blessed right now. Anyway, looking forward to this. Thanks for all the kdrama updates Ms. Koala.
Also, I hope in the future, we can also get more Asian dramas with women and female leads playing the “genius” .
Kim Nam Gil performs better in light hearted comedy roles (Live Up To Your Name, Fiery Priest).
I don quite like him in serious roles because he tends to be OTT with the intensity and went all out broody and depressed as what he did in Shark, Bad Guys and The Shameless. He used to have that difficulties to exercise restraint to that intensity. But maybe after challenging himself over these years, he perhaps will fare better in serious role this time around.
Better in comic, self-parodying roles. Yeah, absolutely. He and Namgoong Min should get together and discuss career arcs.
I reaaaaly love him in Fiery Priest. They should make second season.
he lack subtle acting in serious melo roles, restrain but still showing strong emotion is the key for a good melodrama.
butvwhonknows, actorvcan improve.
For me, his best hair was in Bad Guy drama. Ha!
For a serious role maybe a straight hairstyle is better suited than a curly one.
He really looks good in these pictures!
The story with the very serious profiler catching a serial killer doesn’t sound original but there Kim Nam Gil!
He looks so good! I think he also lost some weight – that was not necessary but he looks a little different, I like it.
I think he does serious the best but maybe seguk serious? I miss him in seguk. Or he should do a proper hardcore old school makjang with lots of dignified crying.
Also, kudos for having quote older unquote leading lady that is not 20 years old adult child and ALSO is not an expressionless idol that I can’t say can’t act because stans will start screaming at me and give me examples of other rubbish actresses that are even worse to make themselves feel better.
I feel so refreshed after ranting, thanks for the opportunity 🙂
