jTBC Files Civil Suit Against K-netizens Who Spread Commentary that the Drama Distorted South Korean History — 17 Comments

  1. It doesn’t surprise me jtbc would do this, they certainly didn’t handle anything regarding Snowdrop well, but netizens aren’t the reason for the low ratings. Let it go.

    • They probably expected ratings in the double digits given the writer’s previous drama but it turned out to be both a ratings and PR fiasco, netizens aren’t the reason for the former though (all that goalpost-shifting talk about “good ratings for jtbc in 2021!!” seems extra cringe now). Being seen as harassing netizens who dared to criticise it won’t do JTBC any favours.

  2. I mean, the writer herself was giving interviews saying she wanted to show the NSA (torture agency) as “ordinary humans too”…I know the automatic reaction from international fans is to dismiss any concerns raised by knetizens as just being dramatic and “antis” blah blah BUT it was their country’s history and they had a point here since the hero was literally written as an NK spy! I mean, imagine an American drama set in the 1960s portraying their civil rights movement as being infiltrated by Soviets….and then think of the reaction to that. JTBC is probably trying to intimidate those who spoke out.

  3. JBTC needs a new Comms team. They could’ve significantly mitigated initial netizen backlash with proper comms, but instead their responses just poured fuel onto the fire and now they’re resurrecting a dead horse.

  4. LMAO at this ?
The drama isn’t even a hit, why are they doing too much lol ?
What’s next, they’re going to sue the NSA victims who spoke out against the drama too? Pathetic.
JTBC, just take the L and let it goooo ?

  5. Knetz on sites like theqoo are still sh!tting on the drama & cast and claiming it distorted history despite not having watched the show. Maybe that’s why jtbc is finally doing this

  6. I don’t think they’re wrong. Snowdrop suffered a lot of the critics when they didn’t released yet. They needed to change their schedule. The crew and the actors suffered a lot. They lost an actress…

About the theme, I don’t have issue when the point of view is changed, the world is not all black or all white. There are stories that showed not every nazi was a monster.

    • By “they lost an actress,” are you implying that Kim Mi-soo’s death is connected to the controversy faced by the show?

  7. I’m all for this! Good luck JTBC! Netizen should not overreact and demand for the drama to stop production all together purely on their own speculation when they got nothing to go by especially when they have not seen the end product yet. Overreacting much and causing so much bad press.

  8. JTBC has had enough of backlash & controversy cuz of Snowdrop & now they’re shooting themselves in the foot by countersuing netizens ??? What a lame move JTBC. This is just so petty of them to do that.
