Two of this summer 2022 hit C-dramas will be coupled up for a forthcoming xianxia drama adapted from a novel. It’s called Hidden Gods (神隐 Shen Yin) and is the sequel to the novel and drama Ancient Love Poetry which starred Xu Kai and Zhou Dong Yu to mixed reviews. Apparently the male lead in Hidden Gods is their son and this story follows his romance with a little ghost who may or may not be a great goddess. Hidden Gods reportedly will star Cheng Yi with Zhao Lu Si and has Bai Jing Ting as the second male lead. I’m game for this casting but for Cheng Yi totally pigeon holing himself in too many xianxia roles from Love and Redemption to Immortal Samara, but I think Zhao Lu Si is right on time to take on her first big budget drama goddess xianxia role.

After watching -and falling in love with- Love between fairy and devil -it’s better than it sounds,please believe me- I’m in a fervent search of a good xianxia drama
The leads in Ancient Love poetry had no chemistry. What’s up with that. I love both of those actors and they left me cold. I thought xu Kai could have chemistry with a piece of wood but nope. Was it the way the character was written? Idk
Yeah.. good story.. but the FL seems to have more chemistry with Her disciple Gu Jun, than ML.
It’s okay for cheng yi to be in another xianxia but not a copycat Production as in “Immortal samsara” mirroring “love & redemption”…..especially on the repeated and lengthy scenes of cheng yi bleeding and close to dying …worse still, they tortured Yang zi in having the same cheesy and low quality scenes for her… 🤪
I highly doubt Bai Jingting will be Cheng Yi’s or Zhao Lusi’s second male lead after the success of Reset.

a bunch of name have been paraded but yesterday a lot of big accounts started reporting the male lead is going to be jing boran. it’s the closest credible news we’ve had so far, seems he’s finally a lock in. looking forward to this pair up!

Cheng Yi definitely have a very strong management company…he is so heavily marketed and his pairings are all the popular female idols… Rosy is a very charismatic actress…she does pair very well with all her leads… Looking forward to this..

After seeing three dramas where Cheng Yi just consecutively vomits blood, I really do not want to see him in another guzhuang again. The latest rumored male lead is Jing Boran thankfully. Looking forward to seeing Zhao Lusi in her first xianxia. She portrays cute and bubbly so naturally without overdoing it, and her emotional scenes are great too.

Zhao Lu Si has done Xian Xian before. The Xian Xian genre is fine as long as it is not repetitive. I can say all Palace dramas are the same too with the power struggle or concubines fighting each other, but the route, character, and story is what makes it different. What is repetitive is when an actor doesn’t approve or chooses to act the same for a different character.
First of all it’ll not be Lusi Jie’s first big budget drama as she’s one of the top listed actress in C- industry. We’ve seen dramas like “Love like the Galaxy” and “Who rules the World” pairing with Wu Lei and Yang Yang and dominated the drama industry. And also There is still no fixed news about Chang Yi being the ml, and rumor says it’ll be Jing Bo ran.
There’s no way Bai Jingting will play second fiddle to Cheng Yi lol. Also, I believe Jing Boran has always been the rumored male lead. I honestly feel lethargic from watching too much Zhao Lusi this year. Girlie has been on costume dramas back to back.
As a westerner I personally LOVED Ancient Love Poetry and I thought that the leads of Shanggu/Houchi and Bai Jue/Qingmu were great together and I loved their chemistry. Made me cry when Shanggu disappeared. Yes it was slow in the beginning but I loved it personally and I just ADORE Gu Jun and Tianqi!

Same here, I am a huge fan of Rose after seeing her in Love like a galaxy, I think my whole conception and view of her has completely changed. I love her comic timing and the way she really just becomes the character she’s playing.,
I think she was marvellous and also I really did love the chemistry between here and the ML….. Great Pairing 😊I think they really suited each other, they complimented each other so well and I’m looking forward to seeing more of her work and his work as well.. I think the her and Cheng Yi is gonna be a good pairing because she seems to have fabulous connection and chemistry with all her male leads and definitely speaks volumes..
