Lee Jung Jae Takes Home the 2022 Best Actor Emmy for Squid Game as PD Hwang Dong Hyuk Wins Best Director
I think this has to be the tail end of the Squid Game hype and attention, and boy did it last exactly an entire year. When I saw the nominations for the 2022 Emmy Awards included Squid Game it felt like the drama aired so long ago but I realized it was September 2021 which made it too late for the 2021 awards but the first eligible shows for the 2022 cycle. Congrats goes to Lee Jung Jae who made history as the first non-English speaker and first Korean actor to win Best Actor at the 2022 Emmy Awards for Squid Game. Joining him in making history is PD Hwang Dong Hyuk who took home the Best Director trophy. The drama lost out on Outstanding Drama Series to Succession which came into the night with the most nods at 25. This drama continues to be the golden goose in elevating K-ent to new viewership and critical acclaim heigths.
So I’ve just found out Emmy is actually international not just domestic (since 1973 even!), so why Squid Game the first to get awarded? When Dae Jang Geum at its time was more than deserving? its impact toward Korean culture was enormous. Or is this a prove that for anything to be awarded, it needs first to be mainstream or popular among white american audience?
His performance was good so it was a well deserved win. The series itself is overhyped. Alice in borderland was better.
I didn’t know who half the nominees were??
Park So Dam fans especially the one doing the blog of SoDam InLove aka known in twitter as Yuan YuaMINEU31 who has so much hatred in her / his cells and always belittling other actors actresses and boasting Park So Dam’s achievements and blindly forgetting the failures in dramas and movies of the actress is again making issue out of Artist Agency ‘s management wherein accdg to her Sodam is not handled well and again LJJ will be in the spotlight. The audacity of this pathetic fan to alwaya make critic and not make any reflection of his/her actions.
Aw..Lee Jung Jae is so brilliant. His long career and dedication might even suggest this win a bit late. Anyway, nostalgic feeling for the millennials like me, when I first saw his bodyguard role behind Go Hyun Jung shadow, I am “imprinted” still now. 💕❤💕❤💕❤
