K-actor Lee Seon Kyun Confirmed to Have Paid Big Amount to Blackmailer Earlier to Stop Release of Drug Use Scandal

So the Lee Seon Kyun drug use scandal currently under police investigation may involve a time frame much earlier than recent days in terms of the blackmail aspect. His own agency revealed that he had been blackmailed as part of this matter and turns out he paid the blackmail reportedly around $250,000 USD in dollar value. Unless he so rich as to see that as chump change to keep his reputation then it’s a significant payoff and probably goes to show the impact he was trying to avoid from a drug use scandal going public as it has now. Other names involved in the current investigation include Park Yoochun‘s former fiancee Hwang Hana and an idol wannabee Han Seo Hee who has been in drug cases with other idols in the past.

  2. The alleged blackmail news backfired with knetizens as paying the blackmailer rather than reporting to the police immediately basically confirmed his guilt to them (I saw some people here compare this to the Lee Santa’s blackmail situation by the girls he was seeing behind his wife’s back but even LBH went to the police immediately when they tried to blackmail him rather than hand over money) If this 48 year old husband and father wasn’t doing drugs and hanging out with trash and known druggies at room salons there wouldn’t be anything to blackmail him with.

From Korean reports he police were already investigating the establishment selling drugs and LSK’s name came up, they also found that one of the other suspects had communicated with LSK more than a dozen times. The police said LSK only reported the blackmail to them recently well after he had already paid the alleged blackmailer. The notorious Hwang Hana and Han Seo hee are also involved with this case and they are into drugs way worse than marijuana like meth.

LSK’s lawyers and agency are also using very ambiguous language in their statement and haven’t denied the drug use. K-netz suspect they are waiting until the drug test results before admitting what drugs LSK has/hasn’t taken. Per the news reports the police plan to call him in for questioning next week and may also issue a warrant for his hair to test.

Poor Jeon Hye Jin is already getting impacted by this professionally as one of their CFs was a couple CF and has now been removed due to her husband’s mess.

  3. Um why is it a big star like Yoo ah In gets stripped of his celebrity status in Korea and is facing jail time, but someone like Han Seo Hee still roams free from all the drug charges she is included in. That’s so unfair.

    • Han Seo Hee isn’t roaming free. She was tried three times, I think, for drug use, got probation previously but was finally sentenced to prison in 2022.
I’m in no way up to date about her current situation after the appeals, if she’s already gone to prison or is still wrangling with the judges–but she’s definitely in the same category as Yoo Ah In regarding “facing jail time”, and she’s definitely infamous in SKorea for her drug use and other shenanigans, so I wouldn’t say that she got favored treatment and Yoo Ah In got disproportionate punishment by having his career ruined. At most, the difference is he actually had a career (movie deals and CFs etc.) to ruin, and she did not, and so the respective fallout was naturally greater for the one who was more famous to start with.
P.S. Not that, generally speaking, unfairness isn’t omnipresent in life, to the point where expecting fairness for free is just naive.

  4. @nahaluk: Not everyone who uses drugs is an addict. There is a difference between addiction which is a disease and someone who just enjoys getting high or breaking the law. The term addiction should not be thrown around lightly just because somebody is using drugs. Addiction treatment would not be the right measure for such people. Punitive punishment such as jail time is the correct punishment. Sometimes it’s not an either/or situation and they need a mixture of both treatment and a correctional institution.
