It’s the end of the Answer Me 1988 real life couple era, as popular young stars Ryu Jun Yeol and Hyeri confirmed they have split up. The couple dated for 6 years after filming the drama together and it was a balm for drama shippers as their characters were beloved to end up together onscreen but didn’t so the off screen dating felt like meta wish fulfillment. Alas not everything is dramas or fairy tales and the young couple really lasted long in entertainment industry life span but their young ages didn’t bode well for marriage on the horizon. Wishing both are taking this break up in stride and will find their meant to be partners down the road.

Splitting up after 6 years. That's like a lifetime in Hollywood terms! I'm kinda surprised they lasted that long. six years is commendable for any couple in the spotlight. Wishing them well as they embark on new chapters in their lives.
Reply 1988 was so good. I love the whole cast, including the moms, dads and siblings, lol.
Some kcelebs either marry within 6 years (Rain/Tae Hee, Boyoung/Ji Sung) or they break up then marry other people within the year (Honey Lee/YJKS, Lee Kiwoo/Lee Chung Ah). Couples like SMA/KWB and JKH/Sooyoung are really rare these days.
Six years is quite a long time in general but particular in the entertainment industry. I think a lot of people expected them to get married eventually. So sad but they’re both really young so I’m sure they’ll eventually find the right partner.
With people (especially celebs) getting married at a much later age nowadays, it almost never happens that the person you are in a relationship with in your 20s is the one you end up marrying. I'm not surprised that they eventually broke up. They're both still so young, especially Hyeri. Good luck to them though. I'm sure they'll eventually find their own respective happiness!
So young? I mean RJY is not old but he's still 37 years old. It's considered young to get married.
Not considered*
37 is young for a k-celeb to get married. Many (not ALL) have been getting married these days in their early 40s.
such a shame I liked them both. I got married at 18!!
