Awwww this is such a reunion dream come true! C-ent is reporting that Tan Song Yun has been cast in her first ever xianxia C-drama titled Xiao Yao (literal title is Carefree) and her leading man is likely going to be Allen Ren. If confirmed it would be a reunion from their hit drama Under the Power in 2019. Earlier male leads in discussion included Cheng Lei and Zhang Wan Yi both of whom would be fantastic as well. But a Tan Song Yun and Allen reunion is just a cherry on top scenario and I’m all for that. But naysayers are already pooh-pooh-ing Tan Song Yun’s visuals as unsuitable for a xianxia goddess role, which unfortunately may be a problem but I need to see her styling to decide. For example, Ren Min was styled like a goddess version of a troll for The Longest Promise and nothing she could do could overcome that.
I’m tired of seeing so much Allen ren. I don’t like his acting and find he has no appeal to me whatsoever. I wish they would give Alen Fang some lead work instead

Allen Ren, Oh, I thought the rumours of his affair affected his image. Thus his agency put him in the cold. I am really unsure how much truth there is to this. If it is untrue, it is unfair to him.
I will definitely check this out just to watch Tan Song Yun in Xianxia’s costume. As for Allen Ren, we dont know who will be the male lead till the Production company released the names.
I personally think it’s more likely to be the other way round where he didn’t want to renew with his agency thus those rumours came out.

LOL. Tang Song Yun isn’t a problem for me, But Allen Ren IS! Allen Ren is in my blacklist of many unwatchable actors.
At the risk of sounding cold – she’s going to open herself up to a lot of criticism by doing xianxia. She does not have the look for it. Whether it’s fair to have such strict aesthetic standards is another discussion but the genre itself is fantasy.
I agree with you. He just lacks so much chemistry with FL. I feel is his reluctance to do proper kissing, makes the relationship lacks emotion and more like good friends. The female version of him is Zhang Ruo Nan. Maybe both should be in the same drama so that other female or male lead are not affected.
Damn I didn’t know zhang ruonan is bad at kissing! I only watched her mlvie with greg han, My Love, and I didn’t notice anything. Was it just coincidentally better at least or I’m too focused on greg han? 🤔

The more reliable marketing accounts are saying the male lead is Cheng Lei, and instead Ren will film another costume drama with Peng Xiaoran instead.
When did xianxia become so synonymous with ethereal beauty? There are many average looking immortals in xianxia that are side characters. Maybe she’s not playing a role whose beauty is supposed to be out of this world. Tan Songyun is a very cute actress that is actually very capable.
