Chinese Paladin 6 Sword and Fairy with Xu Kai and Yu Shu Xin May Drop This Month in January Beating CP4 to Air — 20 Comments

  1. The stills feels like donghua style hahhaha I hope it won’t be too stiff. And btw cp 4 cp 6, is there no cp 5? Got skipped or something? To be honest they should have somthing about the story on the title like make it chinese paladin 5: the return of heroes or something

    • CP5 was created, but it wasn’t as popular although I did liked it. The one that got skipped over was CP2 and CP4 at that time, but they’ve already filmed CP4.

    • Another fanwar?? I do wonder about this… Xu Kai may have started out earlier but Esther seem to have better connections and money, and her shows have better rating then Xu Kai in all..

I am not a fan of both…to be honest, I have to watch a single drama by Esther… I will one day. As for Xu Kai, I feel enough when I watch him…it is not about skill…it is just how he does not touch me one bit..

      • @Coralie, not yet…it is in my hard drive to watch but I have yet to do it…it keeps getting pushed lower…I better do so as I heard good things about it.

      • @Cookie…Ohhhh, that’s not good news. She had way more opportunities after LBFAD and can be more selective with scripts. But before that, she played roles in pretty mediocre dramas.

    • Xu Kai I think.

But Xu Kai hasn’t ever cared about that anyway, and both their fans are getting along and supporting the drama. There’s no stupid, unnecessary war about it.

  2. Big mess, the official status is equal billing. Her team put out an official statement that they are disappointed that the production has breached the contract by not recognising her as first billing while his team states they are contracted for equal billing. Inconsistent contracts, ambiguous language ( her statement uses the term first ranked actor, while his statement uses equal first ranked roles) and breach of contract. Now it’s been discovered that the production team is owned by Wanda Group and Wanda has business partnership/s with iqiyi and CZY is signed under iqiyi.

She held her ground and brought attention to it publicly, so while she has public sentiment on her side, she may have just offended some very powerful figures in the industry.

    • Another Billing war!!! Goodness.

I can see why there are so many such problems in China. Many dramas have been produced years ahead of airing..some never get aired, some are delayed for 3yrs or more. By which point, the contract signed for artiste before would changed in those waiting period. Thus this billing issue arise… I do wonder if this continues…how will the GOV due with it?

Since the China GOV is very reactive to ENT industry issues.

      • @HL

This is not really a billing war because she has done absolutely nothing wrong. She signed as the main lead and it is he and the production company that pulled this stunt. She just held her ground according to the contract she signed.

Government already dealt with it. What is signed before the filming starts must remain. That’s why she is still at least sharing equal billing.

      • All this just feels so shady with the inconsistent contracts, but how far can she take this? Is it worth it for her to fight for her rights all the way (to the courts) when she’s up against iQiyi and Wanda Film? Wanda Film is linked to Dalian Wanda and Tencent, even if Dalian Wanda is now financially troubled, it is still also a behemoth in the Chinese business world. This is a nasty case of being bullied by the big boys.

      • @HL this is the same billing issue (Chen Zheyuan and Ju Jingyi). I don’t think there’s drama with billing for Xu Kai and Esther’s Sword and Fairy 6.
