Gong Jun Likely Confirmed for Next Drama the Wuxia Series Tales of Dark River with Newbie as Female Lead
So the wuxia drama Word of Honor was what made Gong Jun’s career and it’s just been a short three years so there is still time for him to convince the viewers he’s the real deal or just a one hit wonder. His post WoH dramas have all been mid to duds but this year he has Fox Spirit Matchmaker the Yue Hong chapter coming out. He’s also about to start filming a new wuxia period drama called Tales of Dark River (An He Zhuan) based on the same name novel. C-ent insiders are saying his casting is a done deal as top billed and the female lead will be a relative newcomer/fresh face to the industry.

Gong Jun has had very weak presence on screen as a ML. Word of Honor is perhaps just one single exception. Most likely he will turn an interesting character boring and a boring character still boring. LOL. Nonetheless, I usually cut slack on idol costume dramas if leading actors’ visuals look good. At least I’ll check it out. Who knows if GJ in this costume drama will be Xu Kai in Wonderland of Love that changed my perception about the actor? LOL.
I watched this donghua and somehow I don’t see GJ as the male lead. The ML character was steadfast, calm and mature. Have only seen GJ as secondary character in Love Lost in Time but he doesn’t do anything for me. Haven’t feel the need to check out his dramas yet.
Might still pay attention to see how this one turns out.
If the production quality and script is anything like The Blood of Youth, its definitely a must watch. I don’t mind Gong Jun as a male lead; at least he’s tall and good looking.
A bad actor that blew up cause of a BL work
Cast Yang Chao Yue, she and Gong Jun are a match made in heaven both are heavy weights in bad acting. If they are cast in the same drama it would make one unwatchable drama instead of two.
