Yu Zheng Produced Period C-drama The Double with Wu Jin Yan and Wang Xing Yue to Premiere End of Month in May

Looks like the plan to steer clear of juggernaut Joy of Life 2 is about a two week span from its premiere date of May 16th. I’m seeing first Fox Spirit Matchmaker: Red Moon Pact scheduled for end of May release and now the Yu Zheng produced period drama The Double also slotting its airing for the end of the month. The drama stars Wu Jin Yan and Wang Xing Yue in what seems like a moody, arty production where she is lounging around a lot and he looks hella intense. If that works for you then check this out lol, I will just to see if my allergy to Yu Zheng dramas is gone or probably still there.

Yu Zheng Produced Period C-drama The Double with Wu Jin Yan and Wang Xing Yue to Premiere End of Month in May — 14 Comments

  1. Yu Zheng is a pathetic and disgusting little plagiarizer going around cyberbullying anyone who won’t let him have his way.

I wonder how long it will take for him to come out of the closet and finally go around openly dressed in makeup, pink wig and skirt

    • I dont think his personally sexual preference needs to be open to public…even if it is, it has nothing to do with his rather petty and egoistic behaviour. There is really no association.

Being gay or loving to wear pink does not make one a bitch… Yu Zheng is one whether he is straight or gay. It is just stereotyping. It is not fair to many beautiful gay souls/trans etc.

      • Agreed! Call him out for his nasty behavior, no need for the casual homophobia/transphobia.

      • I agree with you. His sexual orientation has nothing to do with his nastiness.

    • Oh common he is nasty and trash but can we stop accusing anyone who we hate of being gay, does every C-directors is gay now or something

  2. To be perfectly frank, I’m not a fan of JOL 1. The lead actress Li Qin is a turn off for me and I dropped the drama early. So I am looking forward to The Double if only because there’s a drought of period dramas and I need to watch something to stay sane.

That being said, I’m in complete agreement that Yu Zheng is a douchebag. I love Wang Xing Yue but am indifferent to Wu Jing Yan. So I will at least check this drama out.

  3. Looking forward to this drama due the novel but as the English translation is yet to complete… I can only enjoy the show….

It’s great to see Wang Xing Yue again. I am not very excited about Wu Jin Yan but let’s see how she performs in this complex role. Also, I am not sure how Wu Jin Yan will play a teenager… but I guess for the drama, they will make portray an older version of the main character….

  4. C fans disdain Yu Zheng so much. But TBH, Story of Yanxi Palace was one of very rare C dramas I got to finish without skipping a scene so far. Didn’t he produce that drama with a hit? I don’t really care that much how petty or shady YZ is off work as a producer. As long as the dramas he produces are good, I’m gonna check them out. That being said, WJY failed to appeal to me in other dramas after SoYP. But I will keep giving her a shot to convince me of her acting if the plot looks interesting. Besides, it’s nice to see a fresh face as the ML, not the usual popular leading actors that have been repeatedly promoted here and getting stale.

    • I have been thinking about this comment you made…how a artiste’s personal life does not affect your opinion of his professional life. It was something along this line…

I was thinking about it for myself. I concluded for me, how a person live is personal life does not interest me unless his/her personal decision affect others in a bad way. Then it will affect my opinion of him/her, only if the deed hit my own set bottom line…and everyone has their set bottom lines.

Yu Zheng for example, he is a bitch, petty and revengeful… we can all see that, but that has not hit my bottomline. Thus I will still watch his projects if I am interested. But him plagiarising Chiung Yao’s novel did anger me. But she sued, won the case and he apologised and paid her. So I moved on too.

There are cases of artistes DUI…I hate such actions as it can result in causing harm to public…my bottom line.

Cheating scandal, unless kids are involved, one party is a abuser etc…I often dont judge as only the couple knows what went wrong. I have no interest in their background story.

So I do kind of agree with your comment but if the artiste touch my bottomline, then I will not bother with his future projects. As his personal conduct have damage his profession image for me.

      • I agree about bottom lines. I’m actually in line with you about all those examples you mentioned. It’s just everyone has different bottom line. For me, as long as actors aren’t proven guilty in the court, it’s left with their works for me to judge. On the other hand, if their performance on screen already doesn’t impress me, their scandals may reinforce my negative opinions about them. Oh well that’s subjective. But who can argue our personal opinions are illegal that should be rectified and rebuked as some folks on this site have a fetish to do? LOL. I personally really disapprove of drama fans speaking as if they are policing public opinions.

      • @Somebody, that I agree…it is all subjective…
In this case, Yu Zheng annoys me, his pettiness makes me laugh 🤣, to say he can affect other newbies career with his petty social media call out, I really doubt so, he is one of the most disliked producer in the industry amongst fellow TongZhi 🤣. So his call out are often scrutinized then respected.
On the other hand, I have to say he can produced a couple of truly enjoyable projects. Thus I will watch his latest work then decide if it is worth my time.
