Ornate Xianxia C-drama Shui Long Yin with Luo Yin Xi Releases Opulent First Posters and Official BTS Filming Preview — 17 Comments

  1. They aren’t very good posters. Way too messy where the characters blend into chaos. That’s not good design.

But lately I have noticed a lot of posters were really amateur stuff. Not just these.

    • I have a design background and these posters are actually well made and dynamic. There’s alot of design elements I believe are done from stratch on top of very intricate overlays and very subtle design elements that are very intentional motifs & symbolisms. There’s so much movement in all the posters & the characters which is not easy to do. The mediocre posters are the ones where the actors are obviously posing. A recent post on this blog of another C-drama explains what I mean.
Agreed though C-ent posters, xianxia genre in particularly, are using very similar design scheme that it is getting tired.

      • I agree. I think they are beautiful. The postures and body language looks good and not fake, and the details in each poster represents the character description. They totally made me interested in the drama lol

  2. I really wish Chen Yao would get more love. How is she like third female lead here? I’ve never seen Bao Shangen, but surely she’s a better actress than Jelly Lin?

Also, Chang Huasen’s name seems to be attached to everything now.

    • @soph
Which picture is jelly lin? Anyway she is a weak actress. Feel sorry to see Chen Yao as the third supporting lead as her pixie small face would look nice next to Luo Yun Xi.

      • She’s the one in all white (third poster down). She’s a pretty girl, but she’s just so bland in everything I’ve seen her in. Hopefully she has improved. I need to give her a chance and stop complaining 🙂

  3. If the ML and the 2nd ML switched, also Chen Yao as the FL, then I would watch. This one? Pass without 2nd thought!!!! LOL.

  4. Luo Yun Xi was made for xianxia. What a gorgeous face.

I cringe so hard at all those actors with their ugly long horse faces that attempt costume dramas especially xianxia.

People need to stay in their lane and not attempt things that don’t suit them

  5. Ornate and opulent indeed!! I kind of like those posters too though, even if xianxia is not really my thing and I don’t think I will be watching (or maybe just a little, because I expect a show between stans and antis). My only question about the posters though is how did they manage to make Fang Yilun look worse than the other guys!

  6. The cast is interesting as hell and I love the fantasy vibe, but I’m really hoping the makeup won’t look too fake in the end!!
These days, actors in costume dramas pretty much resemble Douyin influencers with heavy filters on due to the way dramas are edited and I’m absolutely not a fan of it. They already look good as they are.

  7. Actually it’s not a xianxia. It’s a xuanhuan or as the crew term it a xuanxia, which is a wuxia with more fantasy elements. The story takes place in the martial arts world but the charcter’s backgrounds and personal stories involves some fantasy tropes. I’m familiar with the novel, it’s a very rich and interesting story in worldview with colorful layered characters. It’s actually quite hard to adapt but seeing these posters and preview I’d say they’ve been successful in capturing the vibe of this world and characters.and castingseems quite on point… looking forward to this!

  8. Everyone looks so pretty!!! I also really loved the music played in the preview. It seems like a promising production and I love the guys! LYX allen fang and jeremy tsui are all great hope it broadcasts soon

  9. Chen Yao is so pretty! I’ll probably watch this just for her. I heard it takes like 3 hrs to prep just for her hair and makeup.

  10. BTS of them doing wire works and stunts looks so amazing. My highest respect goes to those that do their own stunts.
