This is a pretty random dating rumor but it made all the K-ent publications so might as well cover it. This week a foreign publication wrote a report that Kim Soo Hyun was dating idol turned actress Lim Na Young after the two were reportedly spotted closely talking or hanging out at the Ultra Music Festival overseas. Anything involving Kim Soo Hyun gets covered by K-ent and especially a possible dating news so even if this sounds totally random and implausible folks are going to be curious. Kim Soo Hyun’s agency swiftly denied it so that’s that.
The thing is that he just talked with her at festival, but some KJW and KSH shippers went crazy and made a big deal out of it. Some idiots spend their time to badmouthing him and went to Lim Na Young insta to said her to leave KSH alone. So that’s why it brought attention. To be fair, there are also were shippers embarrassed by all this mess and asked them to shut up. I saw all this drama in live, can’t say that this was enjoyable.
It’s not the first, and, I fear, not the last time then shippers acting like this and overanalyzing every KJW’s and KSH’s communication with opposite gender. KSH and KJW seemed closed in bts, one instance with no filming happening they were laying in bed together reading the script, it was a few lines. They seemed comfortable during bts and playful but during press they were just awkward,like not much time passed between filming and press. They probably are colleagues but their awkwardness is amusing, KJW does seem comfortable with PSH, maybe shes probably the type to mirror her male lead as a ksh fan said above soohyun could just be awkward type. Wish we could’ve gotten more lee joobin content too, seems like she barely interacted with the cast, I feel like her and KSH could lowkey be a good match.

KJW most definitely looks closer to PSH and so does KSH in fact. KSH has been my fav since Moon Embraces the Sun and to me, it always felt like he’s closest with people who are funloving, extroverts and/or pranksters. Think of all his closest friends and costars he’s gotten along with the most – they are all very similar to PSH in personality.
Maybe because they did two projects together, but JJH is the one KSH seemed to have gotten along with the most amongst his female costars. They seem to have this authentic and genuine comradarie instead of being friendly just for the sake of the bts cameras.
They were comfortable enough to get openly annoyed with each other. There was that bts where JJH got hit by a mic, and you could hear KSH’s worried screech of “Noona!”, or the one where he fell asleep and JJH tells one of the crew to give him a few minutes. The making of the deep kiss couch scene is still one of the funniest, most authentic bts kiss from Kdrama actors. They kept laughing and fumbling in a way that showed they are good friends and are super comfortable.
Just this year the way he spoke of JJH showed that obvious warmth still. Usually KSH refers to all his costars as xxx-si/xxx-nim publicly when talking about them but in You Quiz, he openly referred to JJH as “Ji-hyun Noona” in a very familiar way which I found sweet. Honestly shipping is abhorrent as it practically means treating humans as fictional characters. But when I do see genuine friendship, it makes me smile.
I think KSH has tons of friends in the industry, and maybe he doesnt contact JJH as often as he does others, but the warmth he has for her (and OJS too) is something that really comes across without needing the microscope shippers whip out. The day I see KSH have that sort of interaction with a female costar not married, I might be inclined to think they might be more. Too bad like like you said, he did not have much interaction with LJB. I am not sure what her personality is like, but if its the funloving type, maybe they’d be a good match!

Yh onscreen I liked KJW and KSH chemistry (then again I like Jiwon with everyone) but offscreen yh IDK their couch talk was awkward compared to like JCW or the interviews she had with the MLN cast. I think PSH just seems like a jolly guy a more extroverted version of JCW. During the QOT interviews I missed seeing a jolly chatty jiwon eventhough she’s generally quiet that side of bubbly side of her was seen during MLN and Litc interviews. Cant quite tell if you are being sarcastic or not hehe. Some of the comments here are truly unhinged, so I cannot imagine what the real world of twitter looks like for QoT or LR. But you’re bang on, the arguments from the sane commenters are really compelling. There are some specific comments I did not waste precious time reading past few sentences or paras because its obv they are either just trolling (Sunjae), unhinged (Doe) or a shipper pretending not to be (Alicent), etc.
But overall, this comments section is a microcosm of the shipping culture not just in korean dramas but everywhere in the film industry. I love your comment! I totally agree that KSH looks super close with JJH. He gushed about her everywhere he went, and announced that he loves her at the Baeksangs stage LOL. Oh and one of the best awards speech moments I know of (on the same night) was JJH ending her laundry list of tys with “and to the one who did not go to the stars and stayed on earth, our Do Min Joon si… Soo Hyun-ah thank you. Lets do this again!” I am still waiting for them to get on that promise LOL.

I started watching kdramas in 2020,with cloy being my first oneđ typical for any recent kdrama fan. IOTNBO was one of the first dramas I watched and was in awe of KSH and SYJ chemistry,they’re still my fav of his pairings just for the sizzling aspect of it which was refreshing after watching the very tame cloy. I’m a recent fan of KSH I watched Mlfas and they gave me sibling vibes. Comfortable but sibling nonetheless , onscreen I didn’t feel anything imo she suited second lead better. I liked his Qot pairing and the brief IU one aswell but not the overall drama’s. Imo he suits younger/similar aged partners like right now my dream pairing for him is Kim taeri and kim goeun, I know korean netz want Suzy but pls no. As for his bts interactions I couldn’t give a crap, I do wish he’d do more magazine shoots, or more promo but this guy wants to be mysterious haha.

Nicklous – Personally would hate a slower paced drama. They have the sexy spark and that kind of genre would yeet the vibe and take away half their charm. Mr and Mrs Smith would be right up my alley. And beg to differ but I would personally love for them to reunite with PJE and she is probably the only one who can bring them back together in a drama anyway.
As for QOT they are cute in a coworkers got along sort of way. Did not get any rom com vibes (I dont ship rl couples romantically and never will). I started off my initial comment saying this: I’ve always felt KSH gets along best with pranksters or funloving energetic people. His friends are all like that, even his rumored exes (SH, HEJ) are like that. With KJW, to me he felt like he was trying to match her energy so he himself felt quite muted and restrained. @Nicklous – I love all her dramas except for LOTBS which felt like a poor man’s YFAS. Producers wasnt a love story to begin with so instead of an ensemble it felt a lot like the individual journeys of two younger leads. If it was in the lines of YFAS, KSH would never have done it anyway. CLOY and QOT were both pure love stories to me -ensemble is more like the reply series, playbook series. So while not as great as YFAS, both are still the best kdrama romance in recent years. You’re completely right about the chaste part – but I feel the PD can solve for that. To me it is more important to love a drama as a whole than to love specific moments within it if you know what I mean. PJE is always reliable in my dictionary.
But anyway our wishes do align to some degree. Now lets all create a prayer circle and help manifest the pairing! The PD and writer can figure itself out!

May the PD be the one for iotnbo he also directed encounter which was also visually stunning. He’s amazing too with creating tension and steamy scenes too , iotnbo and lovestruck are examples. We agree mostly haha but other than MLFAS which I watched back when it come out and still love mostly for the nostalgia I’m not a PJE fan. Even with QOT I preferred PD Kim heewon than PJE, I’m still bitter about how great QOT could’ve been if the focus on the love story, instead it had too many elements I didn’t care for. Unpopular opinion lol but other than MLFAS I prefer KSH other work. I hope he works with writers like Park hae young and NHK.
@Nicklous – totally! everyone likes or dislikes things a different way! Not a fan of PHY as his dramas are too dark and melancholy for me. NHK is touch and go. Actually, I dont have a specific writer in mind for him as he knows what a good script entails regardless of who is behind the pen. But I do have a genre wish list. I mentioned military as one already, but I’d add in historical and period dramas. His k fans are clamouring for sageuk. I also hope Nock off will have some action!

After seeing them, I get why KSH’s long time fans see no off screen chemistry with his QOT costar. I went in imagining they had a sunbae & hoobae dynamic but they just look like very good friends. Reminds me of LDW-Yoo Inna. MLFS just shot up to #1 in my watchlist so thanks !
Angrybird – They worked first in a movie together 2 years before YFAS so they were familiar with each others personality. He was also the person who convinced her to do YFAS when she had initially rejected it. She’s super casual with him, constantly smacking him playfully or saying “ya!” all the time. They have this camaraderie and friendship that doesn’t need to be explained or justified. Anyone with fair eyes will see it. YIA/LDW is a good one. He seems to get along with everyone. My comparison pick is LSG/HHJ. LSG also seemed slightly guarded when he worked with Go Ara and MCW, but with HHJ, the friendship was very obvious to me and not done for the bts camera.
I’d think IU is his closest costar which just how often they’re seen together, but offscreen they were a bit awkward. I feel like it’s easier to show his closeness with JJH since she’s married. Onscreen, I felt she was out of his league visually she looked better with the second lead. If KSH reunited with JJH now they’d look amazing though, since he looks more manly even compared to IOTNBO he looks better now, bulking up suits him.
I’ve noticed that every girl he’s acted with they were more comfortable with other male leads. Like even IU and SYJ were comfortable with LJK. Maybe im reading into too much but I feel like KSH guards himself too much to avoid rumours and the excessive shipping that is rampant now. I think people want to point out that they didn’t do any fanservice or flirt off screen, so shippers don’t have reasons to think about them as a couple, and as a besties as well, but saying that they’re awkward and distant is exaggerating.

Omdaiz these comments about awkwardness are annoying what use is it reading too much into press interviews. Just because KSH doesn’t have heart eyes like BWS, JCW etc he’s what awkward? Talk about overreaction. KJW herself rated KSH as a partner 200/100 and from what I’ve seen in the bts he was lovely what more could u want from a costar. Asking the staff to make sure she’s wearing thermal in the hospital scene, there’s other instances of his nice nature. Just because he wasn’t as loud, and breaking into opera at every instance doesn’t mean anythings off. It’s possible he was trying to match her quiet nature. It’s enjoyable seeing how indeed it’s paining them that beyond their ship he has multiple iconic ones. The also love bring up her carrying the drama haha, when ksh purposely himself said he played more of a supporting role and chose an ordinary character to let the others shine. Yet even by choosing this character he was able to get awards and critical acclaim. Also from that show in the second half, the drama was carried by the story of the brothers,again that something they miss cause according to them the shows just centred on romance.

There is a full out discussion on his relationship & chemistry JJH from their drama 11 years ago. I have not yet seen YFAS, but the discussions are detailed enough that I was encouraged to actually start it… This is insane. When he’s on top, he’s really on TOP.

100%. KSH fans always gather for him anyway, but the antis really feeling the heat lol. We have a mix of good ole’ KSH haters, neutrals, folks pretending to be KJW or SYJ fans, folks who are actually their fans pretending not to be and… the dreaded shippers. And in all this tug of war, the topic remains fully rooted to KSH which simply proves just how hot he is.

HI Mz Koala can you please write an article about YJ so that the likes of all the anti’s on this specific post can continue to bash YJ till their hearts content.Because I really get they are angsty and hard done by any mention of SYJ name it causes them to break out in hives so much so it’s causing a lot of distraction and because it’s just me in defence mode I am willing for them to go all out season under a YJ article with their copy and paste commentary. It’s all A okay for them to be allowed to make disparaging remarks about YJ but it’s not okay for me to defend her. Where is the logic in that. Disclaimer: I’m not a fan of SYJ but I think she’s a talented actress. I hope she gets back on her feet soon so that I have more interesting actors to watch.

Twitter can’t forget KSH’s stupid phrase 11 years ago, Park Seo Joon’s interview more than a decade ago, Song Joong Ki’s divorce 5 years ago and his interview in which he didn’t offend anyone, but, of course, men would be forgiving. I don’t know why some people so love to bring “male vs female” in every conversation, like you lived in a cave and don’t know that korean celebrities can be cancelled and hated regardless of their gender.
