tvN Schedules Rom-com Drama Love Next Door with Jung Hae In and Jung So Min for August 17th Premiere

Woo hoo, we have a confirmed date people! The currently filming tvN romance drama Love Next Door (Mom’s Best Friend’s Son) has a date with viewers next month on August 17th. The drama starring Jung Hae In and Jung So Min is one of the most anticipated for me since it’s the first time Jung Hae In has done a rom-com and also his leading lady is one of my faves and also always so underrated. I hope to see promos soon and have a fun lighthearted drama to end the summer season.

  2. Wow, this is sooner than I hoped for. I love the leads and I am looking forward for it, but didn’t care for Hometown Cha Cha, so I am hoping for the best.

  3. I can’t agree more with Koala, love JSM she’s underrated, kinda gives me a Kim Ji Won underrated feel but finally got a blast with QOT. Hope this is the case for JSM. Looking forward to this!

    • JSM has picked too many mediocre scripts and she was miscast in AoS because the rest of the cast was too young for her and she didn’t visually match them. This is a good pairing for her and JHI might have also finally found his right match. His best chemistry was with HJM but he was the most lovable in his breakout role in WYWS. His best acting is obviously DP but he needs more romcom roles to gain more international exposure. This pair has found each other at the right time and let’s hope the writing holds up.

      • I watched AoS without knowing any cast nor their ages. Nope! She didn’t look overaged compared to the rest of young cast at all. I was surprised at her real age though afterwards.

  4. HCCC went off the rails after episode 10 hopefully this will not go the same trajectory. YJO will go from SE to LND in the same week. It’s about time for him to breakout. The upcoming batch of TVN romcoms will break this dry spell after QOT and LR. Finally the last 2 quarters of this year are looking good.

    • I can’t believe the only drama of her I’ve watched is AoS I that I like very much. I’m very fond of her in AoS. She is the soul of season 1 and the plot actually evolved around her character. That drama became a huge Netflix hit and her acting had incredible contribution to the strong chemistry between her and Lee Jae Wook. Nonetheless, it seemed all the buzz went to LJW, very similar to Lovely Runner. Fangirls rule the Kdrama Land anyhow. LOL.

      • Lol, her early dramas are fun to watch..ut she was still raw. I did enjoy Jung So Min in Playful Kiss even thru the Lead male was so bad at acting…🤣🤣. He really just depend on his looks to finish the drama, ignore his bad acting.
But the drama was still very popular in those days.

      • LOL. Was she the FL of Playful Kiss remake? I watched that. I couldn’t recognize her in AoS though.

      • I have a feeling you will like JSM in The Smile Has Left Your Face. The drama is great and so is the male lead.

      • Sadly, you’re totally right. Unless the female lead character is the stereotypically Badass Girlboss Strong Independent Woman™ who pulls people’s hair, is unnecessarily rude— sorry I mean “SaVaGe”, and beats up people who are like triple her size, the female audience won’t hype her up and all the buzz will go to the male lead, as always 🙃

      • @Somebody, yes she was the female lead…one of her debut lead role. She was cute in there, about dramatic in her acting at times but still in line with character. It was fun to watch her…especially watching her trying to create chemistry with a male lead who has glass frost around him 🥶🥶. She definitely tried hard…

@Jana There smile that Left Your Face was a solid drama…not idol level but serious.

      • @Jana, thanks for the recommendation. I’ll check it out. I really like her a lot.

      • You might like JSM in Because This is My First Life. It’s a super underrated slice of life drama

  5. I’m really looking to this. I love both leads and I’d be shocked if they didn’t have amazing chemistry. I’m iffy on the writer (love TCC, hated HCCC) but excited nonetheless. Sometimes chemistry makes up 70% of rom coms anyway.

tvN’s upcoming line up is really good. After this airs, it’s Jeong Nyeon which I’m also pretty excited about!

  6. I love JSM. The ending of TSHLYE still breaks my heart. That was such a good remake of my fav’ Takuya Kimura drama.
She really is underrated and under-appreciated.
I love that long hair on her. Makes her look more glamorous.

  7. I like JSM a lot in Alchemy of Soul I. JHI was really good at romance. But this genre has been out of my favor for a long while cos slow pace, repetitive , and predictable tropes. If there is some creativity in the writing and the directing, I definitely will give a shot. Otherwise, like JHI’s prior romance dramas, Something in the Rain and One Spring Night, I won’t be much interested to watch this new drama even I’m fond of JSM. I quit SitR and OSN midway cos slow development bored me to the heck. LOL. Romcom is particularly not up my street.

    • Same here, I quit SITR halfway because it was a snoozefest with zero chemistry between the leads. I liked One Spring Night and got to finish the whole thing. My favorite of all JHI’s works though is Tune In for Love, so I’m hoping he will have similar or stronger chemistry with JSM like he did with KGE!

  8. I like JSM but I am usually kind of meh on JHI. However, I really like this combination. I feel like they will match really well in this drama.

  9. Hope this is good and does well. Though I think Miss Night and Day (JTBC) is shaping up to be the dark horse cable drama of the second half of 2024, the most recent episode just clocked 8 percent which is double its premiere ratings! I can see why, it’s charming and different even with the compulsory serial killer tacked on.

    • I’m really enjoying Miss Night and Day. This 2024’s dark horse for sure. It was not in my radar at all. I had nothing to watch and only started it because I saw it in Netflix. No regrets though. Super funny and lots of mystery left to uncover.

  10. I love both. Ready to ship! Haha. Jsm doesn’t age at all. It’s true that she’s underrated but I’m glad she’s still around and picking project one after another
