I’m excited that Tang dynasty C-drama The Story of Pearl Girl is arriving sooner than I expected on the small screen. The drama released two new stills last week of leads Zhao Lu Si and Liu Yu Ning and when I went looking for airing rumors the latest is that post-production just finished and the drama team plans to do the advertising rounds next month in September and release the drama the following month in October. That means it’s here as early as two months from now, and insiders are also saying the drama looks good after post-production and if that is true the advertisers will bite as this will be the first S+ drama for the fall season.

Peng looks like in his mid to late 40s… looks like her father. At least Liu not as mature looking as Peng and they had the good will of acting as couple in The Long Ballad.

Liu Yu Ning age 33 and William Chan age 38. William Chan looks much younger and maybe this is why. LYN has been working too hard with multiple jobs since a child to get to where he is now while WC is a second generation rich guy with good living conditions growing up. Peng Guan Ying, 38 also looks older than WC although they are of the same age. WC is really looks young for his age.
Yeah, I wish she could be paired with Xiao Zhan or Wang Xing Yue. In this drama “almost lovers” PGY as the ML is a high ranking Govt officer and ZL as a graduate student. The director’s only choice is PGY as well suited to the role and patiently rooting for ZL as the FL. This drama should be good with the good director behind it.
What sort of legit S+ drama has such a short post production time?
The filmed for 5 months and filming ended in April 2024, barely 4 months ago.
Are they cutting out most scenes that were filmed and using cheap CGI for the sea, desert and underwater scenes?
Youku has always had cheap looking “S+” dramas.
And what happened to Daddi Tang’s billing as 1 of the 3 lead stars?
Are we back to only 2 lead stars now?
2 lead stars announced before and during filming.
Daddi upgraded to lead star right after filming ended making it 3 lead stars.
Now no mention of the other lead star Daddi at all.
So is Daddi a lead actor or supporting actor in this drama?

The concern about the length of time for post-production is valid. Lusi’s last drama, which ironically was her first Xianxia drama, was poorly produced, nothing to write home about. Where imho acting was just so-so. I later found out that huge chunks of the filming were just deleted which made the plot nonsensical at the end of the drama.
I hope they do a much better job with post production for this drama. Especially because of the effort Lu Si put into filming this. Unless, they know something we don’t, and want to recoup their investments before things go awry, there’s really no reason to rush this.
Has i said before this show hasn’t pass censorship liesense review yet until it not airing anytime soon.

The trailer was so good, so I just don’t want them to destroy it by rushing.
I find him a offputting after I saw some footage during the filming of ‘A Journey to Love’ and he was chainsmoking constantly even in his costume and around his poor staff. I don’t want to imagine how nasty his wig, costume and breath must have smelled. Maybe that’s why he and Liu ShiShi only had a few tepid kiss scenes in the drama🤢
Indeed he was a smoker but he is trying to stop that why in his recent filming he has been holding beas to distract him and he has been doing it for some time now. He was not smoking when shooting this or the current he is shooting .

I can’t stand smokers either and even worse to puff away whilst people are surrounding you just trying to their job onset. Like, you can’t put the cigarettes down for a few minute so the poor hair and make-up team can do their job without having to inhale your nasty secondhand smoke? It shows such a basic lack of courtesy and regard for other people. It really made me side-eye him😒
Gosh, I think smoking is alot more popular them we know in this industry…But to smoke around those working around you. It is disrespectful and wrong.
Right? I know many actors smoke but they usually go for a smoke break offset and not in costume or at least cover their costumes up because smoking ruins costumes and wigs and is very unpleasant for the staff and co-stars. I found it so disrespectful how he was sitting in his costume puffing away on his cigarette whilst the hair and make up team were surrounding him trying to do their job.
I believe recently, Jennie of BackPink was in the news for vaping during makeup and she was caught blowing smoke into the face of one makeup artist…
Your news is outdated, LYN quit smoking in 2021 so he wasn’t smoking when filming AJTL.

If the quality is comparable with Love Like the Galaxy, I definitely will watch it.
