Tencent C-drama Guardians of the Dafeng with Dylan Wang to Have 40-episodes and Tentatively Scheduled for December 28th Premiere

Alrighty, it looks like we’re getting more details for upcoming period C-drama Guardians of the Dafeng with Dylan Wang and Tian Xi Wei. The drama will have 40-episodes which is nice, that means the regulators didn’t find much fluff to force cut and also Tencent is all in with this drama at the max length. The airing date is tentatively December 28th, so when it’s all said and done this drama will finish airing before lunar new year 2025 arrives. And for the other top billed male lead big budget drama The Immortal Ascension with Yang Yang, word is that drama will air at the beginning of January 2025, so not necessarily a blink in avoiding Guardians but reportedly due to prep work with Youku and CCTV but the two dramas even then will still overlap.

    • yang yang drama is never and will never be a threat or hindrance for a successful run of this drama though. I am saying this as a long time cdrama viewer. The success of a drama depends on the viewers reception. Also Yang Yang nausea-inducing oily acting from FOMH is still fresh from netizens mind and idt it boil down to down yet.
Lastly, how many β€˜hit’ dramas were now dusting in the corner and cannot even remembered by anyone except for fans? or list of β€˜hit’ dramas yet only fans can differentiate the characters one from another due to repeated/recycling of characters from hairstyle down to acting?

      • Yang Yang is very successful actor, but he star in Fireworks of My Heart which netizen of China did not like it, but this drama is success internationally and total audience (including the hatred) make this CDrama top 3 on that year. Oily is a label the chinese netizen who is better than Oscar critic if successful actor / actress act in drama they dont like..so i guess the meaning is more like iron already rusted and oily.
I still bet on Yang Yang this time and preliminary booking before air currently A Record Journey to Immortality is no 1

      • Fireworks of my heart had excellent TV ratings.

I have no idea why some of you keep on writing here as if that drama was a flop. It wasn’t. It did really well. All the hoopla online didn’t mean anything because TV audiences watched it and enjoyed it.

In fact anticipation for this new drama is huge and bigger than that of Dafeng. You are all just going to have to deal with it.

      • I am watching Yang Yang over Dylan for my first pick. I’ll watch Dylan’s after its run unless I don’t like YY’s (unlikely, since I like the story). Nothing against Dylan, I just don’t like endings of stories with leads jumping into past or future…they are seldom satisfying.

      • @ ^__^ Oily or greasy is a term to describe bad acting that makes you feel icky. It can be where the person is overly self conscious about how they look. People notice that Yang Yang always has his head tilted in a way to show off his jawline.

  1. if the story is good and engaging….then the actor or actress will get praised and get vip treatment…..when the story is not good people dont like the drama then the actor or actress get scold…greasy, oily etc. So the key is not the actor, actress …but whether the audience love it

  2. Is Dylan wang considered a top actor in his generation? I just started watching c drama and my first one is him in meteor garden

    • It depends how you define “top”. If it’s a Top 10, certainly yes. IF it’s a top 5,I am not sure. He is definitely very well known and popular among the younger generations of traffic actors, and a likable guy.

    • Yes, most definitely! Loved him in Meteor Garden ! πŸ’– Thats what got me watching his movies ! He is a wonderful actor and singer. He is very talented.πŸ‘ ❀️

    • He has top fan support but so far he has not solidified his acting reputation. He is talented and does challenge himself. His biggest drawback is his voice. We will see how that fares in this drama.

  3. It’s has a good lead both tianxiwei and wang hedi, it’s just when I read the novel, it’s quite risky cause Xu Qian character is a playboy with many girls naughty and perv , but I really love this directors and team from new life begins team, hopefully they change few storyline, even behind the scenes, the ending already been changed to *meet again in modern world*.the one who read the novel will know, I just hope they change some stuff

  4. Hello everyone, I am American hooked on these shows but I am so far behind cos they are coming out constantly.Lol. Hopefully you all can teach me cos I don’t know alot of my favorite actors names, only characters they played except for maybe two. Someone asked if Dylan Wang was considered a top tiered actor and the reply was “of course not” but I kinda think he is. Is he as high as Zu Kai (yea everyone knows him,lol good ol Bai Jue, sorry he was fantastic in ALP), or is it Leo Luo? He is in sooooo many but he was just in”Till the end of the moon”, I don’t know but for me he is definitely top second half in my book. The top of course being the previous two but please help me with their names cos I just absolutely ADORE the actor who played*Tianqi* in ALP and I am watching one he is in with is her name “Wu Jinyan” you know Wei Yinglo from Yanxi Palace (now married to the Prince He actor, and the actor who played “The Lonely Star,in Miss the Dragon” thank you all for your help 😊

    • Neither Xu Kai, I assume that’s who you mean nor Luo Yunxi are top actors in China, never mind Dylan Wang. They have their popularity but by the genres they play you can easily see where they belong.

Jackson Yee, Xiao Zhan, Zhang Ruoyun, now that’s the group you are looking for when it comes to younger actors and top.

      • The actors you mentioned are definitely not in the same age category. The question was “is Dylan Wang a top actor of his generation”. To which the answer is that if we are talking idol/traffic actors of his age, he certainly is in the top 10. If we discuss “serious” actors, he’s not. But comparing him to Xiao Zhan or Zhang Ruoyun makes no sense, they are almost 10 years his senior, while Jackson Yi is a pop idol turned serious and very successful (film) actor.

  5. Yes, most definitely! Loved him in Meteor Garden ! πŸ’– Thats what got me watching his movies ! He is a wonderful actor and singer. He is very talented.πŸ‘ ❀️

  6. I like several actors but my top three are Yang Yang, Dylan Wang and Lei Wu. They are all talented and handsome actors. I will watch their dramas over and over until new ones comes out to see.

  7. Will check out both dramas while keeping my expectation low. That way I may be able to discover a pleasant surprise The Double 2.0. LOL.
