C-ent Casting Rumor has Wu Lei Returning to Drama Land in Youku Period Thriller Drama The Path Toward Heaven
This is only the second time in two years I’ve seen industry casting talk put C-actor Wu Lei with an upcoming drama so even if it doesn’t come to fruition it still piques my interest majorly. C-ent is saying Youku will provide the drama adaptation of The Path Towards Heaven (Da Dao Chao Tian 大道朝天) from the same novel writer as behind Joy of Life and Ever Night. I immediately think male lead centric and a lot of machinations and political upheaval. It’s been two years since his last television project with Love Like the Galaxy in 2023 and it’s just a shame that I finally found a Wu Lei drama and role I loved a billion percent and then he went more to movie land and also took less projects in general to live a balanced life. I’ll stay tuned to see if he confirms this drama and for my own personal reasons I pray he does.
Hmm so does this mean his movie only career is not what he hoped so balancing it out with dramas? He does well at times but romance parts kind of off. Seems stiff and awkward but outside of that I like his acting.
I thought his last drama was Amidst a Snowstorm of Love? Or was that filmed before LLTG and aired after? Felt like a lot of international viewers enjoyed it.
Maybe he really just wanted to do work that isn’t a romance, and this seems like a male-centric drama. He’s at the age where he’s probably getting bombarded with only romance cdrama offers.
I believe snowstorm drama was supposed to be his last drama not sure if he made it before he said he would focus on movies or after but for sure know his goal was to focus on movies .
He is a actor…he needs good projects. Good to hear about this possible casting.
C-drama needs him! And apparently, he needs C-dramas too. Haha. The Chinese movie industry is NOT it. Just look for good stories!! That’s what freedom is in C-ent, of all all the ents out there.
I didn’t get the impression he was swearing off dramas for movies but that he was no longer going to do certain types of dramas. Maybe switching gears and choosing dramas that have more respect from the general public and don’t attact
Growing up, he has always split his time between films and dramas. A while ago, he said that he was going to be focusing on movies “for a while” so he wasn’t going to be accepting new roles in dramas for the time being, and that’s exactly what happened. In the past two years, he’d only been filming theatrical projects. He did mention in January of this year that he would probably do another film and also a drama, this year. Those claiming that he’s only coming back to dramas because his films are failing are lying. First off, many of his films have not even been released yet, and secondly, he never even said that he wasn’t doing dramas anymore. He was just taking a break from them so that he could focus on some film projects.
