iQiyi Reportedly Swapping Dramas and Will Airdrop The Demon Hunter’s Romance with Allen Ren and Song Zu Er on April 13th Instead of Originally Scheduled Love in Pavilion with Liu Shi Shi and Zhang Yun Long — 13 Comments

  1. I’m glad that drama is finally airing! It really sucks about the tax scandal, since Song Zu Er is a good actress and I like her. Allen Ren can be good too, but wish his real voice acting was better. Not sure if this is going to be dubbed by other actors.

  2. It’s confirmed to air today on the 12th! Finally something to look forward to again! Hopefully this means Prisoner of Beauty should drop soon too!

  3. Ah, that’s too bad!
I would have liked watching Liu ShiShi’s drama rather than seeing yet another pathetic attempt at acting from Mr Fake-abs Ren. I’ll give that one a miss.

    • Why is it always LSS’s fans who are bitter? No one is forcing you to watch it. Go air your grievances to someone who actually cares and can make a difference. We just want to enjoy a good series. Be reasonable!

  4. The first six episodes already dropped. If anyone is interested. I saw 6 raw episodes are available not subbed though.

    • I’ve watched all 6 episodes and it’s WONDERFUL. I like how the drama outright mentions demons and that it’s the demons’ doings. Past recent Cdramas have been ambiguous about using demons and ghosts in their plots, often using other terms to refer to them or they turn out to be hallucinations or other humans’ doings. I suppose ghosts are still a no-no, but looks like demons are perfectly fine as long as it’s in a historical setting.

      • To further elaborate, most of the time it’s only xianxia dramas that talk about demons while the more “down-to-earth” dramas in historical settings avoid making the demons “real”. The Demon Hunter’s Romance is quite down-to-earth and still made the demons “real”, which gave me a pleasant surprise.

  5. 8000 index in less than 24 hours ! People loves it
I try it and immediately loves it…hopefully it will getting better as more episode coming out

  6. The drama has all the making of a hit, but leaves me empty and underwhelmed. Must be because I think the chemistry between the leads is as bland as dishwasher. The plot is mildly interesting, but something about watching Song Zu’er who is quite capable of a passionate portrayal, play a scared mouse-like character is kind of off-putting. Lest anyone comes at me, my criticism is levelled at the character, not the actress. I grew to admire Song Zu’er’s work in Legally Romance, where the chemistry with her co-star Z. Tao was seriously off the charts. Even in the drama Guardians of the Ancient Oath, her chemistry with Wu Lei wasn’t shabby at all. There’s something about the way Allen Ren plays his character that could be hit or miss. As much as I like him in other dramas, I have to say that for this one, his performance might be a miss for me. But I’ll stick it through to the end cause I’ve paid for it and hoping it grows on me.
