Tencent Thrilled with Chen Du Ling’s Success with Period C-drama The Glory Which Broke 30,000 Heat Index Before Wrapping Run
It’ll be an interesting next few weeks to see what scripts are given to Chen Du Ling and the increase in her CFs and magazine spreads on the heels of the unexpected hit that is The Glory on Tencent. The platform is beyond please with this drama’s results, which broke 30,000 heat index and the most recent Tencent drama to do that was Guardians of the Dafeng with Dylan Wang but Guardians had multiple times the budget compared to the small production of Glory. Not to mention Guardians came with a popular IP whereas The Glory was writer Qian Shan Cha Ke’s least popular novel. Chen Du Ling is reaping the most rewards with The Glory’s success, then it’s male lead Xin Yun Lai, but pundits are saying she hard carried this drama over him and both got lucky with the solid directing and an engrossing revenge story that didn’t drag. Chen Du Ling will likely pick a top billed female lead S budget drama next if she gets offered one with a strong script and if that succeeds then she will have fully cemented herself as a top female drama lead within her competitors.
She certainly did better than the male lead but I feel the elder cast hard carried the drama for sure and the good direction and flow of the story. If these were not present her and the male lead would be tumbling.
They chose a good drama for sure. It may not be the best or better than The Double but it was still done well.
Yup, for me the senior actors/actresses did way better to make me stay, especially Yun Entai who played the mother and the actress who played the mother… they were really really cool.
Guess I should check this out!
She deserves this recognition. She has soooo many dramas under her belt. She wasn’t picky either. She even took the minor supporting roles for many big budget dramas. I like her courage and dedication.
With her current popularity, and now in the same production with JJY, uhm… the first billing saga… Hopefully, both of them are top billing.

I like Chen Du Ling, but there’s a portion of her face that always seem frozen and I don’t know why. The veterans really made the drama shine along with the script. It’s a fun drama, but quite dark. At least it was fast paced and all the drama was there.
