Tencent Releases New Teaser for Legend of the Female General with Zhou Ye and Cheng Lei and Reportedly Schedules it After Serendipity Ends Run
The wait for Legend of the Female General may be nearing the end, after an aborted attempt to premiere early this year in January got scuttled due to the scandal of a major male supporting lead. The production quickly decided to re-film his scenes with a new actor and AI face swap into the drama. That has been finished now and Tencent is reportedly scheduling this drama for end of May after currently airing Serendipity finishes. The platform released a new OTP heavy teaser this week that shows us warm and intimate moments between leads Zhou Ye and Cheng Lei and ugh these two together gives me butterflies in my stomach type of good chemistry.

I need to manage my expectations ahead. Because I love this novel, I have in my mind what He Yan and DoDo will be…but drama is different. I am keen to watch this adaptation.
I have been waiting for too long for this! I also heard the drama will be pushed back to August….every month it gets pushed back further. Ugh.
Read the novel already and will need to read it again.
Poor Zhou Ye. She got attacked by crazy Cheng Yi stans, all because her drama is likely to be broadcast but his wasn’t included in the May lineup by Tencent and Youku.
From death threats to other vileness, and because of what? Nothing. They have been harassing so many people over it but she took the brunt of it before they changed targets. Vile people.
Fans of so called liulang celebs are vile. They will attack and bully anybody in the name of defending their rights. Funny that they don’t understand their behavior makes passerbys want to skip any dramas/movies with their favs in it.
I mean it’s normal in c-ent. They probably have a team looking at all these comments, then threaten legal action/sue fans and all that. same old thing every time it happens. Just drama for nothing. If I were a celeb there I would just hire people to deal with all these and wouldn’t give a toss what these people were saying to me or about me online – I’m earning more money than any of these fans would, anyway.

Well congratulations to him! His drama is now in the sights of NRTA and considering that all the government accounts have deleted mentions of it due to the problem of the second female lead, it won’t even be broadcast until they replace her. What goes around, comes around. I would say maybe he will learn not to be scum but unlikely at his ripe age of almost 40.
I wish this crew had better editors because their trailers are so funky. Regardless, I’m still so excited for this drama. Pretty sure the CY drama is airing after Serendipity, but who knows with the recent drama regarding the second female actress, Tencent might drop this one instead.
The trailer doesn’t quite live up to the “epicness” of the story I feel. Like where is the angst, the fight scenes and all. The focus seems to be on their romance.
That’s because this teaser is for the CP. The first trailer that was released in October had a whole storyline. The editing was kinda whacky and the dubbing was weird. This crew is very old fashioned with their marketing, just hoping that the drama is solid and does the story justice.
I agree…I find the romance is not may focus in novel at all… and the drama’s narrative is different from novels. But I am still excited for the drama, just hope I dont drop it halfway.
