Coroner’s Diary with Li Lan Di and Ao Rui Peng Edges Close to 10,000 Heat Index and Surpasses Same Platform iQiyi Dramas Moonlight Mystique and A Dream within a Dream — 21 Comments

  1. lol and they didnt even try to promo is as much as those. Im so glad my girl is finally getting more famous with better scripts while I also like Ao Ruipeng!

  2. Congrats!

Right timing too for CD. It’s a dry summer with no competition at all. MM broadcast at the same time as Flourished Peony and Guardians of The Dafeng. ADWAD with The Legend of Zhang Hai.

    • When there is nothing else to watch a drama can most definitely break the heat during the summer. ADWAD made iQIYI mad money (while being competitive with 3 other dramas airing at the same time) and was suppressed significantly givens its not an original iQIYI script and drama. As far as CD cases are mediocre and unrealistic, logically speaking one cannot deduce or conclude the culprit solely looking at one’s hand only. And they are milking the CP way too much is it detective or romance. It’s interesting but not that great.

  3. Congratulations.. just finished watching ep 26. The case got scarier.

And i really dislike the king’s sons. One of them must be the mastermind behind her family’s murder.

  4. Since it’s a low budget drama, don’t expect anything outstanding in production values.

The main merit is in the writing of the plot, which is interesting and engaging! I particularly like how the approach to the forensic investigations and the gathering of data from the corpses/clues is developed.

  5. Since it’s a low budget drama, don’t expect anything outstanding in production values.😂

The main merit is in the writing of the plot, which is engaging! I particularly like how the approach to the forensic investigations and the gathering of data from the corpses/clues is developed.

The protagonists are on the one-dimensional side with a construction based on them being flawless, it reminds me of Mary Sue and Gary Stu’s patterns. They serve the plot (as well as the side characters) but rarely evolve, not what I was looking for. Qin Wan would be rather boring to my taste if it weren’t for Li Lan Di’s memorable performance. Kudos to her!

On the other hand, I’m not entirely convinced by Ao Rui Peng’s work here, he doesn’t have the energy to convince that he’s a top military commander. His lack of presence does not prevent attention from being drawn to his notable thinness and heavy makeup. I read a lot of comments comparing him physically to Wang He Di, but I failed to see the resemblance between the two.

    • i am still to watch this drama because i am kinda interested in shen yujie. but i remember when moonlight mystique was released, on reddit there were a bunch of comments about the so-called resemblance that i don’t see either. dylan wang strikes me as much more handsome and serviceable like yang yang or ju jingyi. they may not be good at acting but they never fail to have chemistry with their co-stars.

    • He only looks like Wang Hedi in a few angles, he gives off totally different vibes.

    • @1+1, so well said. I’m just to lazy to even give a brief review now. But you spelt it out for me. Ao Rui Peng’s smoky makeup was so distracting to me. But I’ve finally got to used his panda eyes LOL. His paper-thin body built still can’t be unseen though.

Coroner’s Diary is an easy watch cuz the OTP are not expected to die and I just went with the flow. I’m enjoying it.

  6. It’s been all over social media that the views and heat index are being inflated by iQiyi. Any truth to it? I’m planning to start the show once it ends

  7. I don’t feel like they grounded her character well enough in the setup from the start, so I was disconnected, even though she’s a good actor. I didn’t feel her pain, so I didn’t understand her motivations, or fully believe in her abilities, as well I probably should have. I’ll have to pop into a few of the later episodes.

    • Not sure how much grounding is expected for Qin Wan’s character, she saw both her parents practically skewered in front of her, trying to save her while they are trying to escape a bunch of soldiers trying to kill her and her family. On top of that, the uncle pushing her to safety died in front of her, trying to block arrows meant to kill her. Then she needed to jump in the water, hoping a bunch of flying arrows would not kill her. She left all of the things she’s known in her life (her home, her identity, her friends, etc.) to avoid being hunted and killed. She went to live with cruel relatives who hated her from the very beginning and did not waste time abusing her. She had to pretend to be somebody else, always fearing she would be discovered and killed. She had to rely on her wit and the mercy of her cruel relatives while enduring the slander that she hears about her family, knowing it’s not true. That, coming from a sheltered and pampered life, which went 360 in a matter of days. Short of getting tortured mercilessly, I think that’s enough grounding. One of those incidents alone requires intensive therapy for life. I felt the pain and the anger there.

      • Just because the character is not kicking, screaming and crying hysterically does not mean the character is not in pain. Not everybody deal with pain that way in real life. And Qin Wan is supposed to be academic, logical and straightforward. The character came out stoic but layered underneath. I like the way Landi portrayed the character. Not overly too dramatic. Just enough for the audience to see her character arc. She wanted revenge in the beginning but opted for justice and fairness in the end.

  8. Best drama in 2025 I would say , the lead acting is perfect and their chemistry are over flowing, but I don’t think she broke up with her bf , it just shippers twisting things from satisfied their fantasy

  9. Honestly kind of intrigued to watch this. Li Landi and Ao Ruipeng are not your typical popular leads but they both look pretty and can act.

  10. Pretty sure those numbers were tempered with. Ain’t no way this drama is that high. Lol

  11. The drama has now broken the 10K heat index, making it a certified hit for iQIYI. I’m not following this drama so it could be really good and I wouldn’t know but to be honest, I’m really surprised that Li Lan Di and Ao Rui Peng could achieve this even if there isn’t a lot of competition right now. They aren’t the most popular actors around and I hardly remember seeing much marketing or promotion for this drama. It is surely a dark horse drama for the platform.
