Tencent Confirms August 6th Premiere of Legend of the Female General with Zhou Ye and Cheng Lei
The delayed but still much awaited arrival (for me) of period revenge and romance C-drama Legend of the Female General is finally coming! Tencent will premiere the drama on August 6th and hopefully spend this week prior doing solid promos. After the abrupt cancellation of one of the main supporting leads and needing to AI faceswap his character with another actor, this drama needs all the good mojos and help to drum up excitement again. The leads are Zhou Ye and Cheng Lei both playing kickass warrior generals with plenty of battlefield flirting thrown in here and there and lots of slow burn simmering attraction. I loved the source novel and these two are well act for their roles, so here’s to hoping the delay didn’t diminish the quality of the finished product.

Thank you Koala!!! I can’t wait!!! I love the novel, the slow romance, the actions …it doesn’t matter whether Zhou Ye can act well, coz I think she looks the part. I like watching petite slim females fight with swords and fists.
As for cheng lei, I am not 100% sold on him. I would have preferred Wu Lei, Wang Xing Yue…
Another drama hype for nothing. If you liked the novel you need to lower your standards. Zhou Ye isn’t a good actress at all; still remember some cringy acting perhaps she was chosen due to the lack of exposed actresses in her age. It’s such a shame that major IPs always end up with actors which are weak in their acting. Hopefully she will be correct as much as possible. Cheng Lei might be our infirm luck to give us a performance.
I see it advertised being an S+, but when you look at the trailer, the quality don’t match. We don’t know what S+ there is in it besides the IP. This year has already been very disappointing for Tencent. They seems to have a lot money to throw away. After My journey to you, i have some last impression for Cheng Lei. I can’t forget the story of his bodyguard being fired because he was overshadowing his presence according to his fans.
I read about a bodyguard fired…so it was Cheng Lei bodyguard. I dont have much impression of Cheng Lei, I will watch and see.
Yes, it was him. I don’t have any much great impressions of either of them. Other than knowing the novel. No hope…
Omg! This is not true!
1. That wasn’t a bodyguard. That was his publicist/stylist. That criticism was more of why not dressing CL well, then bloggers blew it up. There was even videos showing him chilling in the van while CL was bombarded with daipais
2. That person was still with CL after that incident. When CL was making headlines again for being cursed at by daipais (there were videos circulating still) that person was still there. Only after the harassment incident, the company changed his security details and switched out his staffs.
3. CL treated his team very well. Offer treated them with meals and gifted. There were posts on xhs from staffs from store he shopped at, said he was buying some clothes for his new variety show and then bought gifts for all his staffs
Please inform yourself first instead of getting carried away by false articles and rumors.
Really like Zhou Ye, she was amazing in Better Days. Super excited for this project, she and Cheng Lei seems like a solid duo, but again huge part of good adaptation is in the director/writer.
hey koala, how come i can’t see your latest posts? it’s always a few days behind
The trailer is really god – except for Zhou Ye, who is already showing that she is a black hole on screen.
The director is great so maybe they will be able to cover her atrocious lack of acting skills or really, any expression at all.
Another good book ruined by talentless hacks with great backing.
This sounds great! Can’t wait!
I’m so looking forward for this one.
I really like Zhou Ye, have watched multiple dramas by her, and Cheng Lei, just need his signature smouldering looks and I’m sold.
the fl acting is not giving but I will give this drama a chance.
