Kim Eun Sook Penned Fantasy Romance K-drama Genie, Make a Wish with Kim Woo Bin and Suzy Release First Poster and Teaser
If anyone with eyes can tell me that I am somehow totally wrong for finding the first poster and teaser for the upcoming Genie, Make a Wish just the most terrible looking thing ever please share your take. Because I was making “ugh” faces from the moment this poster and preview dropped and even writing about it makes me want to slowly back away. Like, who is the design and visual director ruining the first impression of this Netflix produced big budget drama with top K-drama writer Kim Eun Sook doing the script and with popular leads Suzy and Kim Woo Bin. The only way I can overlook this is because I love the production team and cast otherwise I wouldn’t touch this with a ten foot pole. I hope future posters and previews look a whole lot better and this is the exception.

even i commented the same , the actress face looks like plastic surgery infused face or ai generated , nothing looks natural starting from acting. i liked kim woo bin only in heirs with park shin hye
Haha I’m glad that I’m not the only one having that reaction to the poster and the trailer. Did they have to be so literal and if so why making it look so tacky? I dunno but my expectations sure dropped a bit, let’s hope the actual drama is better
Koreans on YouTube were saying it looks like an over-the-top pizza commercial or an advert for instant curry because the sand dunes looked like flour and tumeric powder in the respective contexts. One even quipped that Kim Woo-bin was turning into Lee Gwang-soo because the humor of the teaser is right in the latter’s alley 😂😂
To be honest, the teaser looked AI-generated to me because there was zero-to-none movement from the leading actors and the color grading was so off, so the overall vibe was uncanny.
Why is the Genie called Iblis? Is he the devil? So unnecessary name choice.

This is what an AI generated poster for this drama would look like if this poster was AI generated which I hope it is because what a disservice to the actors otherwise. What have they done to Suzy’s face????

It feels like a trailer for a romantic simulation game. Like a trailer for one of the quirky male lead candidates. So weird. Reminds me also of The Bride of Haebak (sp check?) How visually odd it is for a Korean Drama and how unfortunately flopped. But the writer so far has not fully flopped yet so odd that she chose this theme and story for her next drama.
KES has the knack of getting drama fans to tune in. What flops nonsense? LOL. So far, no other writers are able to beat her success rate. At least, KES’ works are commercially valuable and gazillion times entertaining than boring C dramas. LOL.
Back to the topic of this blog, KWB in the poster somehow reminded me of Tarzan. LOL. The girl just doesn’t look like Suzy.
Per the writer and the leading actors alone, I’m looking forward to this drama.
Alright I thought how bad could it be and yeah then I cringed. Sigh.
