Checking in on September 2025 K-dramas with New Arrivals My Youth, Queen Mantis, and Butterfly
So the August K-dramas battled it out and the runaway clear winner is Bon Appétit, Your Majesty on tvN, with only the question of how high could it go in ratings through the rest of its run. Mary Kills People is a mega flop with ratings in the 1% range and such a depressing topic and Twelve is also a disappointment despite the stacked big names in the cast and trying to recreate the magic that was Moving. The new arrivals so far are not hits out of the gate, with tvN airing Korean-American action thriller series Butterfly to increasingly low ratings. Second chance at love K-drama My Youth on jTBC is just mid during its premiere getting 2.822% and 2.915% in the first two episodes, not clear if it has legs to leap higher. The most promising may be detective with an incarcerated serial killer mom K-drama Queen Mantis on SBS with charted in with 7.1% ratings in the first episode.
I already watched La mante ( The mantis) french original miniseries Carole Bouquet and Go Hyun Jung are both great actresses but i’ll give a little + to Carole Bouquet not because of acting skills but for me her natural cold looks give a more psychopath vibe . As for the lead male actors i like Jang Dong Yoon since his debut but the french actor is much older wich also gives a diferent vibe . Fred Testot who used to be besties with Omar sy as they were in their youth a duo of comic comedians .

Hi HL ! It has been a long time, but since spring i lost interest and didn’t watch Kdramas, it’s the first time since nearly 2 decades . I’m trying to rekinkle with it . Perhaps i’m changing or dramaland ? Qui Sait ? I hope that you, your son and hubby are doing well !
I know how you feel… I too watch much less too. I rather read novels and do other things. My son is doing Uni in Netherlands, The Hague. Kids grow up too fast…
I just finished 2 eps of My Youth. Not that bad IMO. Both leads are good actors. Therefore, even melodrama is just melo as expected LOL, slow and unexciting, the acting is good. Song Joong Ki looked surprisingly young and cute in MY. Chun Woo Hee somehow resembled Song Hye Kyo in certain angles. LOL. I’m also watching CWH’s old drama, Delightfully Deceitful. DD is such an interesting story. CWH did a great job as a genius seeking revenge. I’ll continue to follow MY, depending on my mood cuz it’s a melo, my least fav genre. I’ll continue to watch MY for leading actors’ sake.
