C-drama A Journey to Glow Confirmed to Delay Filming Commencement After Female Lead Yu Shu Xin Faces Negative Online Commentary
I wonder how much scrambling and negotiating went on behind the scenes in just the last week, things do happen fast in C-ent when gossip arises and this one happens to butt up against the start of filming for a new C-drama. Period wuxia C-drama A Journey to Glow has postponed its filming start this week despite rumors that it was going ahead anyways with just female lead Yu Shu Xin after talk of male lead Wang An Yu last minute dropping out. The early discussion was to start filming with her scenes only until a new male lead could come onboard. Her side reportedly offered to take financial responsibility for this drama should it be unable to air, which is wow nice to be that loaded to be able to make that guaranty lol. Her fanclub even prepared all the usual filming commencement ceremony support and signs and flowers to the set. But at the last minute the production halted the start of filming and word is that no actor is willing to step in, which is a very bad sign because stars dropping out of dramas is commonplace but productions are always able to find someone, even if it means trading down a level there is always someone willing to do it. There is also gossip that the production is looking to replace Yu Shu Xin with Chen Du Ling. This is a developing situation that should sort itself out in the coming days.
Was her controversy really that bad, though? I saw on TikTok she’s still getting ambassador gigs here and there.
It’s probably because the production team wants to be extra careful, considering how strict chinese drama censorship is, especially after the controversy/rumors about where her family’s wealth came from, no? It’s kind of like Xu Kai’s situation.. he was still fine after the cheating scandal, but the moment the gambling controversy surfaced, he got dropped as the male lead from a drama project. Like, even if her side is willing to take on the financial risk if the drama fails to air, who would want to put in all that hard work only for the show not to get broadcast?
She’s so ugly and mediocre that I’m glad she’s not in this project. The screenwriter is famous so it’ll be wasted on her ugly face and disgusting voice. Chen Duling is a good choice – she’s elegant and pretty. Her acting is meh but at least she’s improving.

CDL fans already denied it didn’t they? Whatever happens this is spiralling out of control. However her other drama Speed and Love just got a distribution license so they might air drop that to see what the response is.

1. It’s strange that the reaction (refusing the male lead actor role) to her new drama casting is so strong. Normally it it’s just a rumor, it won’t result in such a drastic backlash
2. If indeed she was involved in bullying others indirectly or directly, then it might impact her career but then again she has no worries coz she has billionaire family.
3. I think she did well in her recent roles so this would be a great setback for her.

Does anyone know if she’s from jiangxi or shanghai? I’m just curious since she’s been marketing herself as shanghai wealthy second generation. I read somewhere that her id starts with 36 (jiangxi) instead of 31 (shanghai) and that she & zhang zhehan were friends since both are from jiangxi. She actually did mention in Chinese restaurant before that her mom is from jiangxi. her father’s company was in jiangxi too. i remember watching lgief videos back then where she and her male co-star spoke shanghainese and comments were saying her shanghainese doesn’t sound authentic compared to her male co-star who’s also from shanghai.

Chen duling was great in the Glory but has she ever did an wuxia before? Esther yu seems to be a very solid choice but if its not meant to be hope they hire a better obtion than cdl.
YSX was surprisingly good in the fight scenes in My Journey to You. Having dance training definitely helps as Liu Shishi also did an amazing job in A Journey to Love.
