Ji Chang Wook and D.O Go Mano-a-Mano in First Poster for Disney+ Thriller K-drama The Manipulated
It’s been a disappointing year (so far) for streaming platform Disney+ with it’s K-content. Maybe the fall of Kim Soo Hyun and delay of what would have been the platform’s biggest K-drama this year with Knock-Off was a sign of what’s to come. Fantasy action Twelve was a bomb and political thriller Tempest is getting more news over controversy than actual viewership and reviews. The last big drama to air before year end is on deck for an early November premiere with The Manipulated starring Ji Chang Wook and D.O. (Do Kyung Soo). Ji Chang Wook plays a man sent to prison for a crime he didn’t commit and finds out another man played by D.O. orchestrated it all and sets out for revenge. It’s based on the K-movie Fabricated City which also starred Ji Chang Wook lol so he’s remaking his own movie into a drama. I love this poster, so gripping and with two strong actors going toe-to-toe at least acting-wise this should be worth watching.

Yes, Tempest is currently experiencing great controversy, but I don’t think we can say the actual viewership and review are not good. I have been watching the progress of this drama on FlixPatrol and the reviews from international websites and other platforms almost everday, but other than the controversy, the reviews have been good. And the actual viewership is good as well. Not only because Disney posted that this is the highest viewed Korean original Disney+ drama this year, but on Flix Patrol it stays at #3 now globally. And it has been on that level for 2 days. So, based on the given data, it’s clearly not in the disappointing category, but already a success if not because of the controversy. It’s been quite huge actually if you see the waves on IG, Tiktok, and Youtube
I like the acting cast of this upcoming drama…hope it will be good.
I feel like this may end up being one of those good, but low viewership dramas.
Tempest is getting good viewership and can be considered one of the top 10 kdramas of the year, considering the global reach. Thew controversy doesn’t seem to be overshadowing the drama.
Like who cares about what the Chinese think about Tempest…??? LOL
D.O. Will play a villain then? Wow should be interesting to see if he can pull it off on much longer scale. I remember he played the young version of a villain in that one monster drama. Can you imagine him as a master mind? I’m intrigued.
