Tencent Airdrops Modern Romance and Plotting C-drama Love’s Ambition with Zhao Lu Si and William Chan — 25 Comments

  1. Koala you should check out William Chan’s drama “See Her Again”. I used to be allergic to him too, but he did really well in that drama, very natural and raw. I think the drama being in Cantonese also helped. He’s definitely grown on me since then. I’m looking forward to starting “Love’s Ambition” soon too. Just waiting for a few more episodes before I binge!

  2. Sorry to say, their acting are stiff, they have no chemistry, no face expression, boring non logical drama plot, noisy background songs. I fast forward fast too.

  3. Sorry to say, i fast forward fast. They have no chemistry, no face expression, boring non logical plot, noisy background songs. She looks like a doll in many beautiful dresses.

  4. Just finished Our Generation last night. Honestly, that one was just mediocre. So, today I picked up a new drama and already watched the first 4 episodes. So far, the plot is pretty entertaining. It gives me makjang vibes and might feel a bit heavy for some viewers since the main leads keep playing with fire. Hopefully it stays good and doesn’t go downhill.

  5. It’s quite good actually! The part where people comment about stiff acting should know that Xu Yan is someone hiding secrets hence she looks tense. I find her acting has improved immensely!!!!

  6. Didn’t the number of episodes get reduced massively because the drama has never actually finished filming? I hesitate to watch based on that (and Wiliam Chan, don’t like his acting either).

  7. The drama’s actually pretty good. It’s been a while since I really enjoyed one of her shows. After Hidden Love, I rated most of her dramas pretty low on MDL. Her acting isn’t amazing, but I still enjoy watching her, and honestly, she nailed the crying scenes because there’s 1 episode even made me cry. As for William, he’s still okay to watch for now. The plot already feels like it has a clear direction, but what I really enjoy is how the two leads keep scheming against each other. It gives me so much anxiety, though. I’m always worried the female lead is gonna get caught in all those lies.

  8. Hmm.. one of my anticipated dramas. Obviously bcuz of Lusi. But despite being ‘different ‘ from her previous characters but her acting didnt convince me enough. The plot reminds me of Bae Suzy’s drama. But Suzy gave a very deep impression about her character.

Lusi is not bad, but for this dark character, i expected more.
But she’s better than some names who are stuck with the same characters over and over again. Good for her tho.

    Currently on ep 3.

  9. There are just a handful of C leading actresses that I can tolerate. ZLS is one in this minority group. I’m indifferent to WC cuz I just never watched him before LOL. I’ll check out this drama.

  10. Not Zhao Lusi’s usual drama but I do welcome the change. The drama gave out a makjang vibe but with better production quality. I am liking it so far. Beautiful aesthetics. The story isn’t original, but then again, aren’t all dramas mostly copies of other dramas in different degrees?

  11. The thing I like most in this drama is their chemistry. Characters or the makjangs arent much my type of drama…
Also her clothes are really pretty but I cant say same thing for her nude make up trend.

  12. No chemistry at all. She is unusually stiff, I am not sure what happened here which is a problem because she must carry the weight here. wc is not a great actor but he is especially lacking in chemistry so now with her being unusually off, it is not good.

Pity because there won’t be a new Lusi drama any time soon now.

  13. It’s different from ZLS’s past works. But as expected, I’m not that much interested in ANY of C modern dramas. I have no motivation to watch more after ep 1. Nowadays, I’m more intrigued by Yu Menglong’s death. Although the CCP authority did everything so desperately to ban any information domestically to do with the case, the infamous scandal has been spreading internationally like wild fires.

Koala has never been shy of gossips about K-ent scandals to attract traffic. It’s strange Koala is quiet about such a huge one in C-ent, however. LOL too. All other showbiz gossips are dwarfed by this particular scandal. Now, it is said Yu’s death wasn’t only a B-list actor’s unfortunate encounter, but also a pre-meditated assassination by the clout of Xi and Cai Qi (Xi’s #1 hitman). The case involved Xi family’s money laundering of funds supposed to reform PLA and that explains why silencing any talks in the public. I’m sure this fascinating story will be scripted into movies or drama someday after CCP regime collapses. LOL. Or we may not even have to wait until that day. Once Xi falls, all the grueling truths under his brutal ruling will come out one by one.

    • Oh yeah! What do you suggest? Should I Bullsh*t useless RIP and dismiss all the dark implications for this atrocity, just as many ignorant drama fans have been doing, caring nothing about the real issues of that undeveloped Chinese society? Hypocrite!

LOL. I’m being sarcastic about the C-ent under the egregious regime, not making fun of the poor actor who by no means deserved those kinds of inhumane treatments. He’s unfortunately one of many victims in many foul plays of business transactions handled by CCP upper hands. His case involved money laundering by Xi Jinping’s stooges including his brother as well as political struggles between Xi and his rivals. It is fair to say this whole tragedy is drama-worthy material. How’s it off putting to disclose the facts and truth?

As I said, I won’t bullsh*t meaningless condolence, nor move on merry-go-round with Cdrama like you guys as if nothing had ever happened but just another unfortunate incidence to an unlucky entertainer. I’ll make sure to continue exposing the crimes committed by CCP higher up whenever and wherever possible. Koala pretends nothing happened. I won’t, unless she shuts me up as CCP has been doing so in China. You go ahead have your pretentious sympathy by saying nothing as if nothing really ever happened and continue to enjoy crappy Cdrama anyway. By far, YML’s death has got me lose all the appetite for Cdrama, including my fav’s. So disgusting using entertainers to hide their filthy businesses and insatiable greed!

  14. I am enjoying Lover’s Ambition immensely. The tension starts from Episode 1 and carries through.

It’s at 30000 heat index at 4 days so many viewers are enjoying it too.

    • Heat means nothing, platforms control that.

Views are what counts and they are nothing special, with an eh tendency. If it continues, it won’t even reach Prisoner of Beauty.

      • I’m neutral on ZLS, but there is something just very distracting with her face in this drama compared to her Hidden Love days. While she looks very pretty, her face reminds me so much of a mannequin, almost frozen/unnatural.
