The scheduling rumors are saying that iQiyi will release modern romance C-drama Speed and Love (Chinese title Double Track) this coming month in October. But with the recent online backlash against female lead Yu Shu Xin it could delay it until the furor dies down more. I have been looking forward to this one since I enjoyed the novel, it was short and an easy read, plus I think male lead He Yu is so ready to break out and this role could be it. This is an old school fauxcest set up with the leads growing up as brother and sister when their parents get married to each other, but after a few years they divorce and each kid goes with one parent and they split up again. The drama takes place in picturesque locales including an extended sequence in Thailand hence all those gritty and urban vibes plus street racing scenes. There is a period of separation and time jump plus a twist but the novel is satisfying in bringing in a nicely earned ending for the leads so I think if adapted well it’ll be a very watchable drama.
