It’s a tough market for K-drama romances in recent two months. More are failing to land or connect with audiences whether the set up or genre, other than the mega hit Bon Appétit, Your Majesty and My Troublesome Star doing better than expected, the rest are duds including My Youth and A Hundred Memories. The dramas I’m still looking forward to are Moon River and To the Beloved Thief, and for modern romances it is Surely Tomorrow (Waiting for Gyeondo). The jTBC drama will likely premiere in December so another two months before it arrives and this week the first stills are out featuring male lead Park Seo Joon. He plays a weary reporter that has his personal life entwined with work when he covers a cheating scandal where the aggrieved wife Won Ji An is his former ex-girlfriend and they reconnect. Park Seo Joon in modern dramas veers between playing perfect looking chaebol types to hardscrabble ordinary dudes, the latter of which he’s playing here for this role.
